I am currently playing an Ampeg SVT-4 Pro through an old Peavey 810tx, and I want to upgrade the cab. It is a solid cab and has got me through a lot of shows, but it sounds dull.
My band plays mostly in the hard rock vein of music, so I need lots of punch and edge. Also, I am up against two guitar players and a drummer, so it has to be able to hang. My selling points are: sound, weight, price. In that order.
The Epifani UL610 is looking to be the winner, but I have no way of playing one before I buy it. Anybody using one of these for a modern sound?
I am open to any and all suggestions, thanks in advance.

Others to consider are Bergantino's NV series, Mesa Boogie's 4x12 or 6x10, or Aguilar...or (gasp) an SVT 8x10.
But, I've never heard the Epifani UL610. It might be a perfect match for you. |

I would imagine with the right amp and some EQ, maybe adding some fuzz might get you there, but its not that cab's inherent voice (at least not to me)... |

It might click all special like. But there are safer cabs to run with. Boogie, 'Peg & Berg come to mind. |

Or try to find low-cost solutions such as a tone-shaping pedal or compressor...or even something that many consider useless, but I find awesome: a BBE sonic maximizer or Aphex unit. |

Agreed - I have one, and it's the best cab I've ever played thru - definitely plenty for any gig I'll ever play, all by it's lonesome...
