Question Wiring a GK NEO 410 foe 4 Ohms?

Looking at running an LMII into my GK 410 cab. Would it be smarter to run it louder at 8ohms, or try to re-wire my GK cab for 4 ohm?

There is no way shy of replacing all of the drivers to wire an 8Ω cabinet to 4Ω. It's not possible.

...nor is it necessary. Run it as is, if you need more volume, add another identical one to it.

If the speakers are 8 ohm, couldn't I wire them as 2 sets in series parallel to achieve 4 ohms?

No, that would be 8 ohms.

The drivers in that cab are 32 ohm wired in parallel. No way to make 4 ohms without adding 4 more drivers or replacing them.

Yeah, I don't know where my head was at earlier, but I googled it (like I should have done in the first place) and I was wrong. Series/parallel does NOT half the load.

Does more watts at 4 ohms equal more headroom and volume? That's really the question I'm asking here I suppose.

Enough to notice....but not in huge way. More speakers will get noticed.

I can dig it, but I bought the 410 so I didn't have to bring out the 810E's anymore.

Ah my friend you must remember: Half the speakers, half the sound. 10X the wattage (approx.) to get that level back.

True true! It's not so much about achieving volume, I have no problem doing that.

I suppose my question is: In terms of class D amps, is there a heat/stress/danger difference between 4/8 ohms? Will I run just as hot at 300w as 500w? Or could running at 4 ohms be worse for the amp? I don't play stupid loud, I just want the amp to be in it's peak comfort zone to achieve maximum longevity. Cuz that's what it's really about.

It is my understanding that running a solid state amp at a lower impedance will generate more heat.
