Wizard Cabs

Anyone know anything about Wizard Cabs? Looking at a pair of 410's. they ate selling as a pair for 600 bucks. I just don't know too much about them.

Never heard of them before, but looking at their online specs they would be a no go for me... I dont much care for guitar cabs stuffed with bass speakers.

Do you say that because of a specific spec? Size?

Certainly heavy. The 410 is over 80lbs. Not sure what to think about these.

I'm pretty sure I'd just buy a used Ampeg SVT cab and get similar looks and performance for 1/4 the price... They might be worth checking out but I don't see any reason to fork up for the Wizards where there are plenty of comparable bass cabs at better prices.

Kinda my thought too. I also have the option to snag a 212 Mesa PH cab for 599.

Picked up one of the Wizard 410 cabs (perhaps one of the two you were looking at? GC Manchester, CT)

DEFINITELY not built or tuned like a guitar cab - they had a used guitar 4x12 there - complete different animals - these are great!

What makes them great? Not being an ass, just asking. General tone. Hard to fart out? Breakup nicely or something? General design, ported, sealed, rough size, etc.

The 115 weight listed has to be a typo as the same weight is listed for the 215 cab, which is still too darn heavy

I would think so...they have a 410/212 cab that weighs 190lbs

BB/concrete/BB sandwich? That could be a sort of composite I guess.

Any website designers out there? You are needed.

I think Mesa Boogie already patented that cabinet design...

Peavey claims "Kevlar-impregnated" stuff, but I've worn a real kevlar (army helmet) daily.....kevlar isn't as heavy as Peavey stuff....or Mesa....

Odd the 410/212 rivals a Bassoon cab with their 200 ounce magnets.

It's funny...for years I didn't mind heavy cabs. I kinda figured they had to be heavy to sound good, and I certainly would still schlep a heavy cab if it were my favorite sounding cab

Actually, I have played thru one of these cabs (410 top with 115 bottom... possibly 118 bottom) and it sounded pretty good, but not spectacular. The rehearsal space I have been using lately has alot of Wizard gear as I believe the owner of the space is a dealer.

I will say they are built very well. I cannot remember the exact details, but when the owner was telling me about them, the specs definitely seemed the 'overbuilt' variety if you know what I mean. They are not cheaply made, that's for sure.
