A worthy upgrade?

I have sold some stuff to be able to afford a new to me (but more in likely used) bass amp. I have been looking at the Orange Terror 500 tube amp because I know Orange makes great products, it's loud, and also for it's small compact size. Would this be a worthy upgrade from a Peavey Tour 450? I have found a retailer who is selling a refurbished TB500, I'll probably selling my Tour 450 and have to spend about $100-200 out of pocket to get a TB500. My cab is a Mesa PowerHouse 6x10. I was also looking at the Peavey VB-2 or Carbine M6, but the ones I have seen are pretty expensive.

Uh..hell yeah. The Carbine might be a better fit with the PH depending on what tone you are looking for.

I would try it out first to see if is really the tone you are looking for. The Terror Bass amps are really cool for a certain tone (fat + tube-like), but they have very limited controls available so if you don't immediately find a tone close to what you are looking for it may not be capable. The Carbine has a much different general character than the Terror (the Carbine is much more high-midrange forward and fast, much less tube-like), but also a bit more control via the Shape/Character switch. When I had my Carbine I did not have a problem dialing in a fat tone at all, but you won't get the overdrive that the Terror head can give you...
