Just curious. I'm trading my wagon and eyeing a droolworthy sedan 'cause I cannot find the wagon I want at the price I want BUT it'd mean dumping my M9 and LDS 15-6 wunder rig and using my Scout cabs and Walkabout head, which I also love......but does not wump as low or clean. Keep in mind I gig about 8 times a year as a hobbyist. Obviously, if I was out every weekend the priorities would differ.

I have no trouble putting 2 12's together with all the rest of the typical stuff in a 5 series BMW. I used to shoehorn a pair of TL606 cabinets and a Bassman head into that car.
I suggest you schlep your big rig to the dealer and see if it fits.

For what it's worth, I'd definitely trade the Magnum (in a heartbeat) for a new Pontiac G8GT or Charger R/T. Love my Mag, but for one of those? Yeah, I'd find a way to fit it. |

Secondly, having a house and kids, I need it for more than hauling my rig around. |

Not fair. In any event, the drummer has a truck.

I also stuff 4 people and gear for trips up to Mt Hood. 3 people and bicycle accoutrment. 2 people and 2 large dogs for trips to hike or the coast to hang on the beach... Sedans suck for most everything I want to do...
You live up where it's cold, icy, mountainous... 4 wheel is more or less mandatory for me. Can't afford a BMW/Benz, etc ... The Subbie is uber-practical and reliable as the come (this is me knocking on wood ...)

Mine fits in the front seat of my 97 honda civic 4 door. Everything else goes in the trunk.

Cars (well, minivans since about 1995) are simply a way to get where I need to go and carry all the stuff I need to haul with me.

The Acura RSX-S has a deceptively large cargo area: not quite big enough for an 810, but anything smaller is totally doable. Easily carries: 410,2-3 basses, amp rack case, effects case, luggage, and a passenger no problem. Way more room than a Mini, not quite as much room as the 4 door hatch/wagons (subbie, vw)
2.0L 200hp NA engine
2 Door
30mpg
weighs < 3000 lbs
Lots of cargo
Lots of fun (when there's no cargo)
I thought it was a great compromise (except most people think its a girly car )
edit: I think you can get away with larger gear than you might think with smaller cars. I squeezed a 4x15 in the back of a 92 honda civic 4 door sedan once! It was tight, but it fit!
edit2: thats what she said |

I know-I can already feel seller's remorse at the THOUGHT of parting with it, LOL.

To me, vehicles are strictly utility. It needs to haul me and whatever I need to carry from point A to point B. To that end my personal vehicle will always be a truck, my Ranger fills every transportation need I have, and at 24mpg to boot... In addition, I live by my "11th commandment" Thou shalt not have a car payment. Careful shopping and a willingness to turn wrenches saves me hundreds of $$ a month..

If it serves anything else it becomes more of a luxury. I recently purchased a suzuki grand vitara for the sole purpose of loading my powerhouse 1000 more comfortably and for roadtrips to places with dirt roads. That said I had a seat toledo (equivalent to VW jetta) which I could fit 4 by 10s and 15s comfortably in the trunk, and fit a drum set in the backseats... So really it depends on what sedan you're getting...

95% of my driving is to haul gear to gigs, so loadability is a big, big deal for me.
Since I play upright, sedans are pretty much out of the question.
I must admit, though: it did cross my mind, going to 2 1x12s if that allowed me drive something that gets 35mpg.
But I can't quite swing a new car AND a new bass rig!

However, right now I'm driving my girlfriend's 2001 Camry (auto trans; blah). My GK MB115 fits in the trunk easily, or of course on the back seat. Basses usually ride on the back seat, amp in trunk. Works for now...
