Would you trade a 79 SVT for a Genz-Benz 750?

Discuss, I have that deal on the table right now.

I don't think that's a fair trade, for you. I'd think the SVT is worth more than that.

No, the SVT is mine. My buddy wants to trade...I never use the thing.

I just wanted to see people's thoughts on the matter.

Depending upon condition, the SVT should be worth a bit more.

The SVT in good working order is worth more. Benz plus cash would be a fair swap. If you really want to know what the monetary value of each of the amps is take a look at evilbay and see what they have been closing for these days. Then keep in mind the use factor of the amp. If you aren't using the SVT for some reason, and you'd probably use the Benz on a regular basis then you could factor that in as well.

Yes, I totally over think everything...........

This is totally my take on it....currently no closed auctions on Evilbay, I've checked a few times the past week since the offer hit the table...I value it at around 1500

I'll even admit: don't do it.

Your SVT is a classic and will likely continue to increase in value.

For my playing style, in most situations, I like GB better for obvious reasons. Having said that, I like having amps of different flavors as amplifiers can be application specific.

With that in mind, I have an SVT too.

I have mostly Ampegs and Fender heads...Like an old classic car, I'd keep the SvT. Genz-Benz's are traded in all the time like Toyota's, If it was a 12.0 Genz then I think twice, the SvT is worth more..(too heavy?, its a bass head) its your move and you're torn between keeping or trading otherwise you would not be airing it on this forum.....Good luck,

No way, keep the SVT.

FWIW - I have both ;-) Well, almost, my GB is a Neopak 3.5. Talk about extremes!

The (1976) SVT doesn't get out now as it needs repairs, but once I fix it I know I'll drag it out from time to time. They just sound too good.

You can ALWAYS find a GB 750 at a reasonable price.

You'll need to hunt around and pay an arm and a leg to get another vintage SVT if you ever want one again. And, you won't be sure what you are getting (will it blow up in 2 months, etc.).

Assuming both are clean and functuional, SVT is worth considerably more IMO.

If you don't have any use for the SVT, sell it outright and buy TWO GBs...or one and a nice bass.

Personal opinion? I don't like anything that GB makes. At all. If it's your sound, maybe, but the SVT is A.) worth way more than the GB B.) the king of amps. IMO the SVT is the kind of amp you keep around even if you don't use it more than a few times a year.
