WOW Fender super twin GREAT AMP FOR BASS

Sign in to disble this ad
I stumbled upon a fender super twin in a trade a while back and came up with the idea of a 200 watt bassman head and my amp tech converted the amp to a head only tweaked the preamp circut to be a bit more bass friendly and WOW what a great sounding rig! any thoughts on these? any body use them before?

also in the pic is a old 3 12 fender cab converted into a 610 with extra baffles like a svt. sounds like a monster!!!

It's probably similar to a bassman 135.

johnk 10 did this same conversion a couple of years ago. He wrote a great thread about it too.

Here you go: Fender Super Twin Bass Head

No, the Bassman 135 shared the standard Twin Reverb's power amp (four 6L6 and the ultra-linear transformer). The Super Twin had SIX 6L6 tubes and so had more power, and a different pre-amp section. I don't recall the name, but Fender did make a monster bass combo with that power amp section. A single 15" EV (or Cerwin-Vega, I don't recall if it was EV era or the Fender PS with the orange magnet covers on them). A little bigger than a Bassman 10, way heavy, and awkward. They tended to be top-heavy too and subject to toppling if you had it on casters.

Making it a head only is a great idea, wonder why Fender didn't do it? Oh, I remember- they didn't have a clue in those days.
