WutWo....Did I blow the speaker?

Hi,
How obvious is a blown speaker cabinet?

I was playing around with a midi pedal into my PV DPC1400x into my 400W 8ohm cab and I had the gain set too darn high!

Basically 3-4 seconds of a higher octave patch that I was messing with to trigger.

So I have a Avatar 1x12 cube (the older model).
I can see right thru the grill....no obvious rips or tears.
Anything to check thru the port in the back?

It doesn't sound obviously bussy-fuzzy on louder volumes so maybe it's just in my head. Maybe a hair buzzy, but not sure if its the bass not the cab.

Do I put some generic music through it and see how that sounds?

What else can I look at, and what would a pro shop do to trouble shoot it?

Thanks!

they would do two things...put some music through it and see how it sounds, and they would gently push with even pressure around the dustcap and feel for rubbing...if it rubs, the voice coil is shot. if not and there aren't any tears, you got lucky.

btw, just because they claim 400w of power handling doesn't mean it will handle 400w. that's the wattage the voice coil burns out at, not the point where the cone excursion stops. you can blow it with much less.
