Xsonics 212CF FIRST GIG IMPRESSIONS

I have always been a "prove it" kind of guy when it comes to gear. As many of you know I have had health issues but a finally good. So I need to make life easier. The Xsonics 212CF seams to be just that. Easier and powerful and clean. At 42 pounds ,4ohms and 800 watts makes for a real serious piece of gear. Carried in in one hand , bass on back and Shuttle max 12.0 in other hand. Set pretty flat sounded great. Horizontal or vertical both sounded great. A totally different character but great. Low "B" string was tight and defined... So much so that I may have over used it. I say check them out . The cabinet is smaller than my 210 and has 12s in it.Click image for larger version

Just curious here, what kind of music do you play? Loud drummer ? I'm considering one of these cabs for a traditional Blues band, in a small cabaret type setting.

I play in a modern country ( ie 80's rock basically ). 3 guitar amps and loud drummer. I think for about anything one would use a 410 for this will get it done. It is loud and tight.

That color is real pretty... Reminds me of the old Turbo Sound PA cabs......
Does it have bottom

Yes it does have bottom but it doesn't have mud. Low "b" and " c" are tight... And definitely there... With pick fingers or thumb

Those are potent drivers in that cab but how do the mids and highs come across with that low profile and the cab on the floor?

I had no issues with them at all. And as a matter of fact we were hitting a "g" groove pretty hard and I popped 5 th fret harmonics on the d and g strings and they sounded fat and were very present

The mids had a very smooth but potent presence .

Man, those look really interesting. But dang,-------------seems to me a single cab would be handy to be at 8 ohms. Then you could get two of them and still be at 4 ohms. I just dislike going down to 2 ohms at any time. Call me paranoid--but that's how I feel.

My Genz Shuttle 12.0 has dual 600 watt amps so it is not a concern to me. I like that because I can carry 2 42 pound cabs and get 1200 watts out of my rig

More wattage being pulled from the SM12.0 and higher sensitivity cabs that slam. Very nice!

An 8 ohm Xsonics 212CF can be available. It would be 600 watts with Faital Pro 12pr300 drivers which sound very nice.

Never heard of them until I seen this post and checked out the website. The 210 is modeled after the Eden 210XLT from what the website reads. This makes me excited as that is my current cab and a favorite of mine and would LOVE to be able to do a side by side. Going to have to save my pennies to do so, but mat very well be worth it. A smaller, lighter version of one my favorite 210;s? Win as far as I concerned. And Fretlessboy is in my home town, so I will have to catch him out live with his cab.

Glad to hear your enjoying your cabinet Dennis. I should have discussed with you to option to compound push/pull load your Xsonics cabinet. It's a subtle change in performance and overall tone. One more tool in the toolbox to get guys their "ideal" sound.
