Yamaha BBT500H cable clamp question

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi all, first post. I'm a guitard who also plays bass, and try to do it properly, but that's another thread.

I recently picked up a Yamaha BBT500H digital head on CL for $250 (I think it's a great deal), and noticed in the manual (p17 here http://www.manualnguide.com/dl/443/ ) that there were clamp filters that supposedly cut down on EMI. You loop the cable through the clamp, and I've heard that there was a magnet in the clamp. I was wondering if anyone knew how to make one of these, maybe using a magnet and some tape? And if they did anything at all, as I've got some low level digital hash if I don't use the gate.

Any clamp filter should work. I found these searching for "clamp filter" with Google.

I have a clamp but I also use the gate.

I'm entirely pleased that was a feature they included since I play a Jazz Bass with Single coils.

I wouldn't want to record with this thing but is it ever gig-friendly. Amazing.

Thanks, newbold. I did a quick clip with mine using the DI, and the noise there was quite acceptable. As a matter of fact, I got one of my better recorded bass tones out of the gate.
