Traded my late 90's era Peavey 410 TXF for a Hartke Pro Seried 2200 2 x 12. Woohoo! Went from 96 lbs to 74 lbs.

Our group setup went from bass/singer, guitar/singer, drums, &female lead singer to bass/singer, guitar/singer, drum machine. The Peavey sounded good, though when I took it to trade I found out the horn didn't work. No biggie to me since I kept it turned off. Now we're looking at more coffee house-type gigs & hauling that beast seemed counter-productive to my back. Since I traded a free Crate 1-15 & head for it 2 years ago I didn't have a lot in it. Also traded my old Fender MX-80 bass head for a Peavey Sessionbass head so I've increased my wattage, reduced my cubic footage, & reduced my (rig's) gross weight & it still sounds sweet.

Next step would be to look at swapping the speakers in the hartke for some neo's but I'm not in any hurry for that.

You're going to do what??!

Did you ever actually look up the weight of the cab in question, subtract the weight of the original drivers, and then add the weight of the neo drivers? Nevermind the subtraction that takes place in your hip pocket. All told a Neo swap makes barely a gnats - bit of difference in weight. Especially for cabs that are on the heavy side in the first place...

Here I did a little math for you. I was going to do it for the Hartke cab but the 12" aluminum drivers you have in there - part # 12XL8 - are basically non-existent except for those in cabs (try to find one online even try the hartke site): http://www.samsontech.com/products/b....cfm?brandid=3

So I did it for the Peavey 410 TXF instead (I used the well respected Eminence Deltalite II 2510 for the example):

Peavey 410 TXF
Total cab weight: 96 lbs.
Drivers: SheffieldŽ TXF 1035 - net weight - 7.4 lbs ea.
x4 = 29.6lbs

Eminence Deltalite II 2510 - net weight - 4.6 lbs ea.
x4 = 18.4lbs

Peavey 410 TXF w/ neos = 84.8 lbs.
Weight savings = 11.2 lbs.
Wallet weight savings = -$439.88 + shipping

Being able to say you have 'neos' in your cab = pricele$$ (silly?)

Yeah for 439.88 plus shipping you could hire some day labor at READY FORCE for $8 bucks an hour, if you bought beer they'd probably forget all about pay and they can schlep your gear. They will even ride in the back of a pickup. Sometimes smell bad.

Either that or dump the super model girlfriend and date a Bulgarian Shotputter... She'll schlep for beer too; and sometimes smells bad.
