I'm hoping the freq profile fits my ears - time will tell. I seem to be on an amp/cab buying spree at the moment. Time to sell some more stuff

The size and performance is soooo appealing but admittedly, I have not heard or played them however. so not sure how much definition, growl and grind there is. Are they all lows and highs?

Shipping to the midwest area is likely to be in the $60 to $70 range for the pair. $1,200 shipped for a pair with barely any use isn't too bad. |

I think the cabs are a bit out of my price range for now, but I'm sure I'll convince myself that I should simply go ahead and spend the dough at some point.
Important question: Can the logo on the grill be easily rotated? I would probably want to stack the cabs vertically, and having your logo readable would be a must! |

Somewhere in the Baer megathread, I posted a pic of my two ML112 stacked horizontal, with an "ampwedge" in between.
This sorta splits the diff b/t stacked one way or the other, in therms of "personal monitoring.''

My rig now consists of two Neo 112 cabinets (series 1) and a Genz Benz Shuttle head. Light weight, modular and easy to move around. I bought both of my cabinets used from other TB members for a total of $425!

MB 150 combo for electric. Didn't need to use a second 12" MBX & the soundengineer even pulled me out of the mains for the electric tunes!
Sometimes I use 2 MBX's stacked & run it with a Phil Jones D200 head, not as much power as the G.K.MB150 though, but if I need a smaller footprint (well, with 2 instruments that one can only play one at a time...) it's got enough low end & push to suffice too. |

I gotta say I like the black grills better than the silver ones. |

I would probably pair it up with a DB112NT ($492 w/ discount). Is there are reason to have two DB112s with 2 horns?
Also, there's an Aguilar GS112 for sale in the TB classified. What's the major difference between the DB112 and the GS112? There doesn't appear to be a lot of love for the GS112. |

The biggest issue for me with the DB112 is size and portability - it is an awkward shape/handle config and I find it hard to carry.

I've read nice things about the warm tones in that particular series, and if they don't work for you, you'd probably get back more than what you paid for them here in classifieds.

Yea, I'm a bit worried about the schlep factor, too. The Baer and Berg appear to be a bit smaller with a recessed handles. |

Yea, I'm a bit worried about the schlep factor, too. The Baer and Berg appear to be a bit smaller with a recessed handles. | I have never reallly found Mid Scooped tone to be good unless I'm playing alone. Mids, and complex mids seem to be where a lot of sonic magic lives "in the band mix" in my experience. and in boomy rooms, mid scoop tone is the kiss of death. i.e. no definition, cut, growl or bite.
I've only demo'd the TH500 briefly and it does seem to offer a very complex midrange (a very nice, very good midrange). So maybe that head is a good match for the GS112. But I would honestly move past the GS112 to the DB112 or something else personally.

There doesn't appear to be a lot of love for the GS112. | GS is scooped as has been said. I play a "P" also and prefer the mids to be somewhat boosted. Another problem I've heard from multiple reviews is that lows tend to "fart" out with the GS. The DB's are a perfect voicing for a "P". Most agree that, if your buying a pair, to have one be the NT. No need for two tweeters. That pairing gives the same overall experience as the DB212 - Two 12" speakers and one tweeter. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
