Have you compared this cabinet to the GB Focus 112? I'm curious how the two compare.

Any updates? Have you gigged the TH with the Focus stack?

I got a chance to play around with my TH/Focus rig over the weekend, and I appear to have a problem.

First, I got a proper pair of Speakon cables, as my original pair had a 1/4 plug on one end. I then plugged in my passive P-bass for the first time, and the tone was all fuzz. It almost sounded like the signal was too hot for the amp, but given that this is a passive bass, I didn't really think that was the issue. I grabbed by active P-bass, and the problem was somewhat reduced, but not completely eliminated.

Being the lazy bum that I am, I didn't swap out the cables to see if perhaps I got a bad cable. Instead, I lowered the gain and drive on the TH, and engaged the input pad, and that significantly reduced the distortion. Hmmm.

I'll try swapping the cables this week to see if that's the real source of the problem, as I can't see the amp developing a problem just sitting there unused.

Anyway, I think I'm a little less enamored with the Focus cabs after the 2nd session with them. I keep fiddling with the bass and mid controls, trying to find a setting that gives a nice punchy sound without being overly boomy. I wasn't very successful. I tried setting the bass at 1 o'clock, and the mids at 10 o'clock (w/ mid frequency at 8 o'clock), and also tried the opposite setting, but the tone was more boomy that punchy.

Any ideas on how to get more punch?

As others have mentioned, the TH bass control is extremely sensitive. You can pretty much go from no bass to too much bass in the 11 o'clock to 1 o'clock range.
