I am interested in all your thoughts on Yorkville XC808 and the Traynor TC808, what do thet sound like with a tube head?
I have a Mesa Boogie Bass 400+ and I am considering buying one of these cabs, it is smaller than a 810 and seems to have a reputation for good quality and focused mid-range.
Does it sound "flabby" with a tube head?
I use a 5 string Jazz bass, I play many styles, I love that growly tone. I almost never use a distorted or broken-up tone, I prefer a clean sound or clean with a smidgen of break-up.
I'd love to hear your thoughts |

But the prices I saw online are not budget - are there no Boogie cabs north of the border? |

The cab seems very even to me. Doesn't have the biggest low end out there, but again, sounded very even through the mids.
Build quality very high.
In all honesty, the 700rbII is probably more tonally similar to your mesa 400 than the YBA was. That head was almost instant overdrive/grit - even with KT88's and 12at7's in the preamp.
Very loud. Sold for a lighter, modular setup. Miss that cab though.

When you ran the yba through the 808 did you find any issues with the speaker cones extending?, did the low end sound flabby with the yba? |

The YBA (to my ears) was scooped with quite a bit of treble content (though not super high SWR sizzle), which the XC808 dealt quite nicely too, bringing the midrange more into perspective. With the GK, it just slammed the upper mid growl home beautifully. Great cab. Never got the cab to distort/fart/flub with either of those heads.
I struggled big time to get 'my sound' using the YBA's cut only passive tone stack. Which I totally admit was my problem - not the amps.
