Loved my Bassman 135... Super toanz but not enough power. Love my SVT... Not quite as super toanz but more than enough power.
Loved the Peavey T-Max head, but it's a hybrid. Love the Peavey Mark IV as a SS... Also love the Sunn Coliseum.

What say you? Favorites from both worlds?

BTW, I tend to like all-tube or SS; the hybrids I've tried all left me *meh*

My favorite tube amp is either the SVT-VR. The SVT-CL is a close second because of the gain control. I wish my VR had one.

It's hard to pick a favorite solid state head. It seems to change based on what I've been playing through. I was really into the Carvin B1500 until I got my BX500. They're both pretty even, despite my preference for the extra EQ options. Right now, I am really enjoying the GK MB200. I'd definitely like to try out one of GK's bigger heads sometime.

It's hard to say for sure because on one day, I'll love having all of the extra EQ controls (BX500) and then suddenly start liking the simple EQ (MB200, SVT-VR). One thing is certain, though, and it's that I absolutely love my SVT. I can't imagine a solid state head capable of replacing it.

Hi all,

Favourite tube head: SVT 2-PRO/Musicman HD-60

Favourite SS head: Gallien Krueger 800rb (80's model).

I have to agree with the post on hybrid-heads too. Gotta appreciate tube OR
transistor sound - trying to be both just ends up in the 'meh' pile of gear.

On the tube side I love my B-15n and SVT II pro; Those old Acoustic amps really sounded good for SS and, when in good shape and played through some quality speakers, hold their own against modern gear.
