Your Opinion Plz: 70's Bassman 50 vs Fender Rumble 100

i am not a gigging musician. just do living room jams with the buds. the guitarist in our 'band' has a reissue twin and i play under him with my bassman 50 2x15. i am sick of hauling that beast around and want to move to a lighter rig. although i think it's cool that i have a rig older than i, i am considering a craigslist purchase of a fender rumble 100 1x15.

will that rumble be able to rumble as well as my bassman? is $500 for the head and matching cabinet in decent but well used condition too much to expect?

i would really like one of those new portaflex rigs but the rumble100 is on the local cl for about $200.

thanks for your input.

Fender's Rumble series is pretty entry-line. I guarantee that you'll be taking a hit on sound quality. If you're looking for a more portable rig, there are other higher-quality options available if you shop around. But if you don't want to spend a lot and are cool with something to just jam on, the Rumble will fit the bill.

I have a Rumble 350--it's OK, sometimes surprisingly good. But the smaller models suck. Stick with the Bassman . . .

A bassman rig may not go screaming loud but it's killer. But if I were looking to replace it with something lightweight, I'd go Portaflex or Micro VR/210AV. But the best thing is to go try a few and see what you think.

I'm a Fender fanboy and can't stand anything Rumble. Believe me, I tried multiple combos and head/cab combos I was not pleased at all.

I used to own a Bassman 250 (210) combo and absolutely loved it. I would look used in that direction instead. There was a Bassman 250 (115) also, but I don't see those much. The Bassman 150 might be the ticket also.
