Órale,
Looking to downsize and cut down on the gear weight. Been looking at those Carvin BX500 amps. Anybody own one?
And, anybody who own's Carvin gear, what's the quality? Good sounding gear? The price sound's great, and the 5 pound amp really sound's good!
And, are Carvin amp's reliable?
Thank's

TONS of threads here regarding the BX500, and carvin amps overall. Several of the BX500 ones are megathreads.

I'd suggest searching here in the Amps forum.

I own a lot of Carvin stuff from three six string basses, one five string and bunch of power amps. The couple of little problems I had were promptly taken care of to my full satisfaction. I've not tried the BX500 but I do own its big brother the BX1500. So far I am delighted with it.

I suggest you run two forum searches under amps: One on the Carvin BX500, and another on "Class D amp". You will learn a bunch about the different brands/features/feedback/pricing. The Carvin is a good option, but it is only one of many for lightening your load without breaking the bank. I'm starting to seriously consider getting a Genz Benz Shuttle 3.0 8T - - great little solution for practice/small gigs, and enough head to drive my Epifani 2x10 for medium gigs...

I have one and really like it.very versatile clear sounding head, you can get a little grit (enough for me) with the drive knob. Have not had any problem with mine, some of the 1st ones would go into protect mode, seems they have corrected this problem. I always have my lmiii close at hand in case of failure but I always have a backup no matter what amp i use.

The price is right and Carvin has a great return policy if you don't like it. Made in USA too.

I have two of them (one in my rack for shows and the other in its carry bag for rehersals) - the amp is very nice & never had a problem with either of them (matched up to either my Berg NV610 or my GK 212 NEO). I just ordered a BX1500 (its a power trip) and can't wait run that into my 610!
