Your ultimate rig

Sign in to disble this ad
Hello all,

I play in a weekend classic rock band and I play out of a Eden WT800 and two Mesa Boogie Cabs 1x15 and 2x10. It's a small rig.

I would like to hear what would be a better rig for this type of music - not too much slapping going on.

Music - by Creed, Six am Alter Bridge, Journey, VH Styx amoung others.

Looking for advice on what would be a better low end rocking rig.

Years ago I demo-ed a few 1x15/2x10 cab setups and was never impressed with any (IIRC I did GK, Mesa, and SWR). On the other hand, one of my best rigs was a GB 4x10/2x10. That's one of the main reasons I went with the NV610 I use now for larger venues. Sounds great and easier to move than the two separate cabs. Throw in a mini-Berg HT/EX rig and that pretty much covers all the........

I started off life with an 800 rb then dove off the deep end and experimented with SWR, Ampeg, 2 Mesa's and now I'm back to a GK. Life sure is strange! For cabs I went from a Mesa to an Ampeg to a Basson back to Mesa and finally I'm using Bag End.

I play prog rock/metal and I use an Aguilar rig- DB750/GS210/GS212- 750w into 2x10's and 2x12's. My ultimate rig would consist of just doubling my cabs so, 2x210 cabs and 2x212 cabs. This would also bring my power to 975 watts on my DB750! I already have all the low end and growl I need, but more wouldn't hurt now would it?

Although I'm loving my rig now...Aguilar DB75+DB115...I'm starting to think a second DB115 would be my perfect rig for times when I need big thunder.

Put a mesa head on top of that.
Better off get a mesa 2x15 road ready and put a mesa head on that.

I have to say I'm halfway to my ultimate rig. I've got a Sansamp RBI running into a Hartke HA5500. That is currently running into a 400 watt Carlsbro 4x12 (got it used). However I'm working on getting 2 Trace Elliot or Ashdown (undecided) 4x10s, and having them side by side on the floor. The bass needs to be felt as well as heard.

My Ultimate rig would be 4 810e's with 4 SVT 2 pro's.

but I would settle for a 2 Pro with a 410he and one of those new PN210hlfs.

I`d dig a DB751 through either an Aggie 8x10 or 4x12.
