I recently attached an original lid/reverb unit to my Ampeg v4. I added a three prong cord, and attached it to the chassis where the lid meets the sides. I had previously had a new reverb unit with no lid in it, and it hardly hummed. The three prong gronded in the same place as it does now, just without the lid. Now, it hums very loudly and electrocutes me every time I touch it when it is on. I haven't turned it on since the first day it did that. I tried turning it off and back on, and the problem persisted. Any suggestions?

+1 There's more to installing a three prong cord than just wiring it up if you're replacing one of the old two prong ones. For sure, keep it unplugged until you can have a pro check it out.

You can only actually be electrocuted once. Better to get your amp fixed correctly before that happens.

I'd take it to a tech since you got this bit wrong

Thamks everyone; it's going off to the tech. Better safe than sorry, right?

Tech for sure, but I suspect you may have connected the hot wire to the ground, or neutral connection. Or maybe there's a voltage leak in the reverb unit you just installed.
