Still surprisingly reasonable. I was expecting a bit more of a sticker shock. Of course, I'm glad I got my order in before the change!

All said though, the custom and signature prices actually "look" better now that they are the actual price. I wondered if the old method of pricing might have caused some folks to stay away from Roscoe. I know it did for me way back when I was just casually pricing basses from website to website and did not know about the dealer pricing.

Agreed all around Joel. The new prices are still very reasonable and I like how there is more transparency about the prices on the custom/sig models.

I'm working on getting an order in before the increase myself

Am I missing something? The prices for the custom and signature look like retail prices to me (based on histroical data).

By that I mean the price prior to the allowable 25% discount.

Joe, no, you're not missing anything. We had to raise the prices on the Customs about 20% and the Signatures about 25% to "catch up" to our costs. I know it seems like a lot, but when you realize that most companies will raise their prices ~5% per year, and it has been 5 years since our last increase....well, the math doesn't lie. Actually, we raised the prices on the Standard/Standard Plus series only 15%, which is significantly LESS than you would expect, and on the Customs it is on the low end of the spectrum.

A few items to note in those prices:

On the Signature series basses, the matching back of the headstock is now STANDARD - this was a $200 option previously.

Now you can get an active/passive "vintage" electronics package on ALL of the series basses, with both JJ and PJ options (on 4 and 5 strings).

Oh I fully understand why you guys had to raise the prices. I just thought that Joel and Jeff were eluding to the fact that new price list specified "Street Price" in lieu of list. The prices still look like list price to me (on the Custom and Signature models).

Are you looking at the right list Joe? The price is the price, for all lines standard through signature now.

While it isn't quite as attractive as it used to be, I still think a Roscoe - especially the Standard - is one of the best values and "bang for the buck" in the world of handmade basses. Everything is more expensive than it was 5 years ago. And remember, these basses are handmade in the USA by real people who care about every instrument and every customer - from a lowly guy like me in the middle of nowhere playing at church to someone like James Cook who tours with country artist Luke Bryan to Jimmy Haslip.
