I got to gawk at, listen to, and play this amazing instrument tonight. Wow. Just, just...wow.
Looks first. The finish over that top is absolutely perfect. Bold, but not too much. It draws you in. And the fingerboard? Don't get me started. Beautiful in its own right, but when mated against that top, the combination is better than either of them alone. This is truly a gorgeous looking instrument.
Playability? Are you kidding me? It's an SKB fiver. Nothing on the planet plays this good. The only thing that comes close is an SKB sixer.

But the action on this bass is
low. This is truly a gorgeous playing instrument.
Now the good stuff. This thing sounds incredible. FOCUS. You get hit hard with each note, but it's like a body blow, not a head shot.

Lots of warmth, fatness, and just full sound everywhere on the fingerboard. Playing above the 12th fret is an absolute joy. Go to the middle of the board and you get a nice snarly grind. Drop some low C's and old folks have to restart their pacemakers. This is truly a gorgeous sounding instrument.
This is the kind of bass that makes you think bad thoughts, like...doesn't my wife really want me to melt the credit card on a new SKB for Valentine's Day? It's the first mahogany-bodied Roscoe I've experienced, and one of the few that I've played with a rosewood board. I have a feeling this one is going to sell quickly, which is good...I definitely don't need the temptation.
