anyone in Los Angeles?

And has a Roscoe that they'd let me briefly check out? I am thinking of switching from my last remaining 34" scale bass (Zon Lightwave fretless 5) to a Roscoe fretless 5 but would like to get my hands on one before taking the plunge. I'm in Santa Monica and can travel to you. Or if anyone knows of one at a local shop I'd gladly check that out.

nostatic -

Sorry we presently do not have an active dealer in the LA area (always looking to talk to any shop that would be interested, however, if you know of any).

I would strongly recommend looking at the used fretless that Pete just posted the link to, I know it well (it belonged to a good friend for a while), it's an excellent instrument, and the price is RIGHT.

Actually I'm emailing back and forth with Greg. My issue with that bass is the lines - I am an unlined guy and for whatever reason have a miserable time trying to play a lined fretless neck. I've got my eye on another alternative

Ahh....I do know where a new unlined fretless 5 is, and it's pretty nice...are you eyeing something transparent black north of you???

It's a magnificent Roscoe. Unfortunately, they know me there. Since it's unlined, they let me touch it, but I'm only allowed to play open strings.

Funny, I'm only allowed to play closed strings. Or maybe it is only allowed to play closing night. Or maybe my playing turns it into closing night.

The downside to the black one is the weight. I'm spoiled by playing Rob Allens, so I look for sub-9lb beasts. I know where one of those is as well...damn the luck.

Pete, didn't we cover this the last time? No submerging the bass, even to see if it gets heavier.

Thank you. I'm here all day.

Maybe he was doing a medley of Yellow Submarine, Sea Cruise, and Admiral Halsey (Uncle Albert called in sick).

Please tip your server. And try the veal...

You know fellas, after working with trees all day I sometimes get covered in pine sap. So I go home to take a hot shower and if I get a glimpse of a Roscoe I can't resist. Next thing you know my hands are stuck to the neck and body, so it goes into the shower with me.

Is that bad for the electronics?

Just get 'em waterproofed, like Jason Newsted had done to his Sadowskys....

Oh yes indeed...

Sounds like some kind of LG is in order, since he's after lightweight.

i'm thinking of dating a twin...is that so wrong?

Though I may just order one. I am much more of an "oil finish" guy as opposed to gloss. Must be the french fries...

Oh no no no, not if it's the twin I'm thinking of, but of course, any man'd give his left arm to have a set of twins at once.......

Ebony board?

Nice bass, no question.

We would be most happy to oblige, and can select for lightest possible weight (can't give a promise on total final weight, unfortunately - and anyone that does is a liar ), if you choose that direction.

Any idea/desires in that direction?
