Very cool Joe.
It sounds like it is much more suited to your tastes than the slicin' ash/ebony bass you used to own. I bet it has great definition - with the maple fingerboard and electronics you have.

You have IMO the best that Roscoe has to offer from an options standpoint. Let it grow on you!

Good advise John!

For what it's worth, the thing that I worried the most about with the purchase, switching back to a 6 string as my primary bass, has been the easiest transition. I love playing the Roscoe 6!

No hand or mind strain what so ever!

.....by the way....that sure is a nice piece of myrtle in your avatar!

OK.....The jury's back in and the verdict is:

The Nord/Aggie/ash/wedge neck/maple FB combo is really all that!

I've got to admit that at first I thought that I was going to have to swap out the Nord p/u's for the Bart's but I guess a combination of my ears adjusting to the open/clear tone and experimenting with various EQ's have sold me on the Nord p/u's.

I've even found some real nice phat bridge p/u tones that remind me of the darker tone typical of the Bart p/u's (just much clearer sounding).

Our drummer has even commented multiple times (unsolicited) that he really digs the clarity of the notes on this Roscoe. He stated that the notes don't have the boominess on stage more typical of the Bart equipped Roscoe's. I actually think that what he's stating is what threw me the most in transitioning from the Bart's to the Nords. I was really use to that huge thick darker tone but never really considered the fact that it was actually masking a lot of the clarity and phrasing of the individual notes that I was playing.
The open sound of the Nord p/u's really allow each bass note to be heard in the mix.

The ash body is also probably part of what I'm hearing but I think that the Nord's are a bigger part of the equation.

Ahhhhhhh......there's no place like home!

Sounds great Joe. And the great thing is - you can always make the bass sound darker by rolling off the treble and playing more over the neck pickup. But, you will maintain a lot of clarity/definition from the maple/ash combo.

Glad you got on board with the tone!

This is something I've really noticed with the Nordstrand pups in my bass, which has a cedar body so while the ash bass might cut better, the DCs are just a super clear pickup that still allows for a nice fat Roscoe tone while not getting muddy.

That's what we like to hear around here. There sure is nothing like a Roscoe!
