I'm somewhat new to the whole Roscoe thing. I've got a used SKB 5'er headed my way with Bart PUs and a Demeter pre. I'm just wondering what I'll do if I don't like the Demeter.
Isn't the Bart pre in Roscoes customized specifically for Roscoes? If I were to get an off the shelf NTMB, how would it be different? Different EQ points?
Thanks for any help.

I'm really hoping that I'll like the Demeter. If not, I'm nearly positive I'll put a Bart in there. In my experience, Bart electronics really suit my tastes.

The Demeter is the Tops in Transparent.
Go with the Bart preamp....

Go with the Bart preamp.... | Couldn't agree more...the Demeter is the epitome of transparency, IMO, much more transparent than the Audere.
I actually find that the Audere is a decent match with the stock Barts...sort of in between what the Bart &Aggie and the Demeter as far as the tonal transparency thing goes.
I'm not all that wild about the Audere pre in most other basses, but for some reason it works well with Roscoe and it sure gives you a ton of tones.

incredibly transparent

I just received my first Roscoe today! I've gassed for Roscoes for a long time and now "have finally seen the light"! This bass has everything I was looking for. Great modern tone. The notes are so tight and defined! The low B is awesome! Best I've ever played. I didn't think a B string could get better than my Modulus, but this one is. It feels slightly tighter and the notes are more defined. Honestly, in the past I've never used the low B on my 5 'ers much but I'm sure that's going to change now. This bass sounds wonderful for soloing and chording. Cool modern slap tone too. The Demeter really allows for a huge amount of tonal variation. It's amazing what happens when you start turning those knobs.
I know, no pics, no bass so here it is:

Congrats on the bass..I had a Demter in a LG3000 I owned.. I actually enjoyed the Demeter a lot. I'm not a tone buff so I'm probably not one to discuss variations and transparency. The definition note-by note was remarkable. I used it at church and got wonderful feedback. I'm sure you'll notice the highs are slightly "muted" ..not sure if this is a Demter or Bart thing. I actually liked them muted over the real high sizzly stuff. The lows go a loooooooong way. The sound man had me cut back the lows almost every Sunday because they were killing everything else ..I will say I wasn't a big fan of the mid range however. I could never get it quite dialed in to my liking and just set it flat and adjusted accordingly on my head.I found a slight bump of the lows and 3/4 on the highs with a flat mid really shined. And the growl...MMMM the growl...
