Bartolini CB vs Nordstrand Fat Stack

Hello,

I plan to change the stock Barts CB of my Century Standard for some Nords Fat Stack.

But I have seen that some of yours think that they are quite similar.

I'm looking for a punchier and more homogeneous sound but without loosing the warmth and fatness of the barts.

Are the Fats Stack a good choice in my case ?

Has someone already compare these 2 pickups models on a same bass ?

Another thought is switching to the standard Roscoe Barts...These def. fatten things up but a bit more compressed. Im actually planning the same swap in a few months.

I find my bass VERY punchy but lacking in the warm realm which I prefer.

I definitely don't think that the Nord FS pickups will be the right choice if you're looking to get a warmer/fatter/thicker tone. They're GREAT pickups - I've got a set in my fretted 6 and just love them - but the last thing I would describe them as is "warm/fat/thick", more like "P!$$ED OFF/edgy/aggressive".

LightGroove's suggestion is pretty good, IMO, the "stock" Roscoe Barts are going to be more of what you're looking for, I think.

I've got a barely used set of Fat Stacks that I took out of my Roscoe 5-string fretless that I'd let go for a nice price ($175 shipped?). If you decide to go that way, that is...

I think that the comparison is more than likely between the Bart CB's & the Nord DC p/u's and not the Nord Fat Stacks. IMO they are quite different than the Bart CB's.

Have a friend who did a similiar swap from Barts to Nords, and I really can't tell any difference.

The neck pickup was at the place of the bridge pickup and vice versa

I have put the good pickup at the good place and the sound is just great !

So I have a pair of Fat Stacks to sell (4 strings)...
