This baby is the property of a very fortunate individual that also happens to be a student of Jimmy Haslip's. Just wanted to share an "old/new" bass with everyone...note the "flatter" carving on the body and the luthier's joint/scarf joint headstock!

Full monty, front & back:

This bass has Hipshot tuners. I've noticed on most of the older Roscoes there are Gotoh tuners.

Did Keith use Hipshots a long while back or was this bass retrofit?

All the best,

Doug

Good eye, sir.

Actually, that bass was just put together from some very old parts that were just sitting around gathering dust. The body has several flaws, and the neck was one that we were not comfortable selling as "new". Jimmy mentioned his student, said that "cosmetics" weren't an issue, and we made it work. We just thought it turned out fairly well overall, but it isn't something we would ever sell as a "new Roscoe".

Gard!!! I just dropped this piece of wood. It's dented, I think you'd consider the future bass broken. Can I have it?

Is your name Jimmy Haslip?

Well, no. . . but I taught him most of what he knows. I even learned how to play left handed just so he could follow along.

Actually Jimmy used to be right handed but he was having a hard time following me so I made him switch to left so he could mirror my hand and see more easily what I was doing.

If Jimmy were reading this thread I'd break down into Wayne & Garth's "we're not worthy, we're not worthy" bit.
