Coming Home

Hey guys! After not playing for the last 18 months to work on marriage and kids, I'm getting back to playing again. Yeah, I'm still working on the marriage and still have the kids (middle and high school kids), but I think I've figured out how to manage both being a good husband and father with playing in a band. Basically, I need to put the family first and band second. No more of those twice or three times a week rehearsals because of the up coming possible gig in two weeks. Ah. No thank you.

So I look forward to seeing you Roscoeheads here at Talkbass again.

But the biggest question I have (since I never heard of this term before I had my hiatus) is this:

Gard: What the hell is "Neck Hogged" in these threads about new Roscoes? I know you guys are in the North Carolina, so there are thoughts of "Deliverance" running through my mind. And last I spoke to you, things were going real well with you and the new wife.

BTW Gard: I'm still paying down Hurricane Francis dept, so I'm not ready yet, but do you still have that piece of walnut? I understand if you don't-- business is business. I wish I still had the pictures of that piece. The Peavy Cirrus is OK for my fretted bass, but it needs to be replaced some day with either a SKB 3005 or Century V. Of course I still have my SKB 3005 fretless. I'll never let that go.

Hey Bob!!!

...quick, Bob, spell your name backward!!!

Good to have you back around!

On the hogging of necks, Deliverance was filmed and "took place" in Georgia, not NC.

Things with the wife and family are good, thanks for asking!

The walnut is gone, but we always have more, or can get it, so we'll get you fixed up when the time is right.

Hey. I just realized. You never answered my question. I was serious about wanting to know.

What is a hogged neck or a slotted neck?

Hogged: the step before final shaping, very "rough" radius of the back of the neck, done quickly on the pin router with a large round-over bit.

Slotted: the fret slots are cut in the fingerboard (done immediately before "hogging" the neck).

Yo Bob! Good to see you around these parts again!

Yeah, my life is an excersize in moderation! Not too much bass, not too much computer, not too much TV, not too much work....

Gee. Thanks for all of the "welcome backs". It seems as though I've stirred the pot as to the southern jokes.

Hey... we all pee yellow and bleed red. Well... hopefully.

That football team thing, that won't bother me a bit.

I'm from Louisiana, and I'm sure that by the end of the season, LSU will deal with which team is better...and if you're talking pro football, well, I know you don't really believe that the Falcons are better than ANYONE (other than the Lions... )...

Yeah, the movie Deliverence was made in Georgia. Squeal for me!!

I can't say a lot, I was born on a Military base in Germany to an Irish Dad from Carroll Parish, LA who married a woman from Rislip, England.
