I assume that whoever glues up the body and top would make the center kind of run like an extension of the neck. That could be cool.

Model: Century Standard Plus 5 ($2,499)
Body: Swamp Ash w/"My" Koa Top
Finish: Oil
Preamp: Bartolini 3-Band
Pickups: Bartolini CB's
Neck: 3-Piece Maple Neck
Fingerboard: Bird's Eye Maple, Fretted (+$75)
Hardware: Black (+$75)
Case: Roscoe Single Gigbag
$2,649
They say the wait time is long (5 months or more) so maybe I can pay it off before it even gets shipped. I like waiting, it's part of the "fun" of a build, but this could be tough. Fortunately, Gard is pretty good about taking pics along the way when it gets going.

My ash bodied Century with CB's is quite possibly THE best sounding bass I have ever owned, for ANY situation, ANY stage, ANY style of music, and sits perfectly in the mix. If I could have one and only one bass, that's the one I would have.

That's why I have a pair of Foderas 5s on order that will be done in June - one fretted, one fretless (both E-C). My budget is already quivering in fear.
Cool that you'll have one quickly and the other down the road. Also less painful financially. Mine will be on the bench at the same time. That check paying of the balance would buy a nice car.
Both of the Roscoes should be killer. As others have said, don't have a knee-jerk reaction and sell them. Give it time to learn the ins and outs. And find a good therapist to shed the guilt thing. Not that I know anything about that...

Hell, I have had my JM for 6 months now, and I still don't have that bass totally "down". I think it is because it hasn't had enough sweat, beer, and drool on it yet to really be part of me.
I did just about pee on it once, but that's a story for another time and place. And one that my wife will probably take great joy in telling at the next Roscoe GTG........

I had to pull the plug. I have to tend to some issues at home before I do any more bass playing, forum surfing, etc. I have un-liked most things on FaceBook, pretty much "logged off" from a couple other forums, and will do the same here once my fretless sells.
I'm not sure where they were at in the process. Last I heard the top was going to get glued to the body, but I'm not sure if it happened. Maybe they'll make it anyway?? It's a great spec so I'm sure someone would want it.
Off to bump my fretless ad...

The body is actually being cut to shape today, and will start looking like a "bass" very soon!
Steve, very sorry to hear things have gone "south" lately, hope that it all gets worked out to the best resolution, and soon. |

Maybe I'll still be able to buy the Koa a month down the road. We'll see. I hope you post some pics. I'm still very curious as to what it will look like. Quote:

Hopefully Gard will start a build thread in the Roscoe forum or on FaceBook. I think it's E064.
This is how it looks with some oil...you can kind of see where the rough top fits on the body... |

It's kind of exciting following your bass threads. We may have to nominate you as the new "Drama King" of the Roscoe forum!
Almost as exciting as the old days when you never knew who's Roscoe Databass was going to poach next!
Of course that was before Adam went into the witness protection program!
I miss those days of the many "tangent masters" at large! |
