My CC's are in recession with the rest of the country.
I have been saving though, that's right S-A-V-I-N-G...
Shame on you GARD for encouraging people to accumulate more debt!!!

I guess it SPOKE to him...it sure shouted loudly in my ear...thankfully, I'm SET on 6's, if it'd been a 5, there would have been trouble right here in Gate City, NC... |

I am thinking more and more that I need a Roscoe fretted 5er, problem is I love all my basses and can't decide which one gets the boot!
Now that I say that, the Musicman is only a 4 string................. (hmmm)................... |

| | | | A fretted Roscoe 5er is a magic thing.
But then, that Musicman of yours is gorgeous.

Crazy life stuff happening these days, and I'd fallen out of touch...not only with this thread, but with TB in general. Then, while posting w/ Greg over "Naima," I saw the thread in this forum. Pow! This one hit hard, to say the least. The aesthetic is obviously incredible, and I can't deny the effects...that insane top, the dark board adding a third tone, and we've already talked about the headstock and hardware. This is the bass equivalent of the sports car that goes 100mph while standing still. But, those specs...looks aside, this thing is truly a great spec, and big kudos to Greg for selecting the puzzle pieces. Ash & wenge, with a bit of bubinga. Holy balls. I confess to thinking about this thing when going to sleep on Friday night.
So, yesterday I rang two Batphones. First was my local bass guru and Roscoe aficionado, Ed @ Gelb. He knows wood like Irene knows wind, so his input was a great barometer check...with my apologies for the weather metaphors. Next came Gard. Aside from the obvious inherent trust, he truly knows my tastes, and more important, how a fine instrument will sound in my hack hands. Armed with both of their endorsements, I called our man, Greg...honestly half-hoping he'd tell me it was sold. The last thing I really need is another bass - even one like this - and I was painfully contemplating a partial trade (I'll let you guess which) and the melting of an already toasty warm credit card.
Greg, as always, was a true gentleman. He was honest with his impressions, and was kind enough to serenade me over the phone. One of my many great takeaways from the April G2G was the enjoyment of hearing Greg play in-the-flesh, and particularly noting some key similarities between us (with sincere apologies to Greg for insulting him by comparing his style to my greasy ham & Tourette's approach). Accordinlgly, hearing him play the bass pretty much sealed the deal...this thing was headed west.
Almost done, I promise. Two last things. First, thanks to my wife, who upon hearing which instrument I'd be trading, told me to buy this bass outright. I'm one lucky bastage, that's for sure. And last, a big additional note of thanks (to be replicated in his forum) to Greg. Without complaint, he put up with my innane questions and trade-in gymnastics. At the risk of speaking on Gard's behalf, Roscoe is fortunate to have him in the stable.
Bada boom. This bass will see action very shortly after it arrives, and I'll certainly share impressions. Thanks for your time in reading alla' this.

Don't blame you one bit, the axe is incredible.
That said, the wife, my word, she's awesome.
