Truthfully, JOME's solid body bass has been like a dose of Bean-o. It's in its very own realm of blessed Roscoe tone! It's even more desireable since Keith is not doing the Cocobolo wedge neck anymore. It's definitely something special, I can't believe you didn't want it!?!

I REALLY dig that Wenge Wedge neck and Nordy pups!!!
LSU, my man, you've got to get up pretty early to out Poach the POACHER.
But congrats on a sweet score at a NICE price! If that's your thing, you really did well for yourself!
Does this mean we can be TB friends again? Sort of a post JOME sale burying-the-hatchet?

Let's all remember I owe my nickname to LSU. Sure, CMD has put a more negative spin on it. But it's all fun and games on TB.

Hmmm...it could be you are starting to get a complex. If you remember correcty, I've referred to the old Poachmeister with highly venerable titles such as "the Sultan of Snipe" and whatmore.

No such thing. Tops are subjective but Spanish cedar bodies rule for warmth and phatness.
Post some pic's Jason. I didn't see any pic's of that one.
Congratulations! |

1. A habitual or customary ROSCOE you take to rehearsal; usually private, in preparation for a public performance, ceremony, etc.:
2. A bass you snipe to try out its various wood/electronics combinations before having Keith build your own custom spec ROSCOE.

That is an awesome looking Roscoe!
When does it arrive? I can't wait to hear your review. Very nice box elder burl top too. IMO you'll love the tone of the Spanish cedar body. |

I like the top, love the wenge wedge neck, and love the DC's. What I'm not sure about is the Nord/Aguilar combo, or the Spanish Cedar body. Never been a fan of SC, but I never heard it with Nords. I've never been a big fan of the stock Roscoe Bart system with any wood really, so I think I'll be fine. I had a Mahogany LG with a Nord/Bart system that was great. I think the SC will sound similar.. I'm looking forward to hearing it.. |

Different woods react differently to the environment, so Roscoe started using multiple pieces to counter the effects of each other, thus ensuring a straight neck.
Of course, different pieces of the same wood are already positioned by Roscoe to oppose each others' forces. . . and keeping in mind that Roscoe necks don't have issues (quiet, LSU! ) so I say all that to say, Roscoe makes this much-harder-to-produce neck for our enjoyment.
How'd I do? Still got a job, Gard?

I "thought" that until recently Roscoe was unable to consistently get good single pieces of wood large enough to use for bodies. Gluing the pieces together was the next best thing. Of course, I'm only talking about solid pieces of Swamp Ash--I won't say where Gard is shopping, or even what state. . . but I did notice some boxes piled up behind the shop w/ UPS tags still attached.
LSU's bass is SC, so I can't say for sure if the same is true. . .
Gardfather, if you're still employed, will you kindly help us customer types figure this out?

I've owned 14 and the only solid ones that I've had have been the solid myrtle burl and 2 solid maple. Every thing else has been book matched. I typically prefer the book matched bodies and tops (due to the symmetrical look).
I think the angle of the pic's shows the book matched body a bit more on this Roscoe. I suspect in person it's not nearly as noticeable. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
