A Dream becomes a reality!

I know some of you Roscoeheads saw my post last week in the "If you could, what would you?" Thread but I never really explained how I came upon the opportunity to purchase that pretty fretless.

When Jay posted that thread last year I had just seen in the Roscoe gallery what I considered the perfect fretless. So I posted a pic of it knowing, that with my current fretted Roscoe still in the build queue, I couldn't even think about another Roscoe then.
Well just a couple of weeks ago I PM'd my good buddy and Roscoe dealer Halftooth to see how he was doing and mentioned how satisfied I was with my fretted Roscoe. I also mentioned that all that I needed now was a nice Roscoe fretless. Well Gene emailed back that he had just the Roscoe fretless in his inventory that I would want.
I really didn't have the cash but I told him to send a pic and spec's and low and behold it was my dream fretless from the "If you could, what would you?" thread!

I didn't know where that bass had gone and couldn't believe that Gene was the dealer that had it built! The only thing that I would have change would have been the slanted p/u's but I can live with that.

To make a long story short (I know it's still long), I sold everything that I didn't immediately need (including my Tfunk and Berg ) and finally raised enouigh cash to get it.

The specs are:

LG 3005
Ash body
bubinga exhibition 1-piece top
birdseye maple diamondwood lined finger board
Audere 4-band pre
Roscoe Bart p/u's

It should be here next week. I'll definitely post some sound clips ......

Wow! That's beautiful.

What are the fretlines? I like how they don't stand out.

I think that they are the std. thin wire markers. They probably just blend in more with the maple board.

Thanks guys!

Jerry,
I don't about any particularly incredible music that will be pouring out of me but I'm sure going to enjoy having a Roscoe fretless back in my arsenal. I've bought and sold quite a few basses and the only decision that I truly regretted was trading away my Roscoe fretless. Nothing quite compares to them IMO.

You know it just hit me that I don't even know what the back of the bass looks like! Man! I'm must have been infactuated!
Oh well, I'm sure that it's nice.....

Congrats Joe!! Amazing feeling to have a bass on the way!

This is poster child for the "Bubinga Lovers Club".....but seeing the back would be nice.

What's up John? I would suspect that a bass should be heading your way real soon!

Joe, I just want you to know I keep coming back to this thread to gawk at that top, and...of course...at just how well the fingerboard integrates with it. This is a stunningly gorgeous instrument, my man. I'm very happy for you!

Thanks Jerry! I can't wait to see and play it!
Constantly hearing your fretless was probably the straw that broke the camels back. I like the sound of my Gecko fretless but it's doesn't have the tone of a Roscoe and the sound of yours was a constant reminder of that!

It ships out today so it should arrive mid next week!
