A bit of an update on this one. It turned out great of course, but I always had the thought of doing something a bit different with the electronics once I got it:

I put an Aguilar OBP-1 in and wired it V/V/T (p/p active/passive). The 4th knob is the bass boost on the OBP-1 and the treble boost as an internal trimpot. That worked out perfectly. I also put in some Frailin split coils which were good, but not quite what I was looking for. After some reading and listening it sounded like the Aguilar pickups might work for me, so I hit up Greg for a set of the 4J-HCs.

That turned out to be exactly the sound I had in my head. Beautiful, classic fretless J-bass but with all the feel, fit and finish of a Roscoe. What more can you ask for? Word is the Aguilar pickups will be come a stock option from Roscoe with an OBP-2 (stacked B/T) and passive tone. IMO that's a very smart move.

Very nice Jeff! I bet that bridge p/u really has some nice growl and mwah.
Do you have it strung with TI Jazz Flats?

I really miss my Roscoe fretless but unfortunately the 2 Roscoe fretted (5 & 6) basses are my limit for high end basses. I did recently send off my Warmoth fretless neck to have the ebony board coated with polyester (like the Pedulla Buzz) and hopefully that will get me closer to the tone of diamondwood. It should be back in another week or two.
I'm planning on ordering a set of TI Jazz flats to install when I get it put back together.

(cough, tangent, cough)

Joe....I still just hate the thought of you without a Roscoe fretless. I'm here to help whenever you're ready.

(cough, end tangent, cough)

Jeff...that bass looks way cool. I'd love to hear it. Congrats.

No TI Flats Joe, it's got the stock D'Addario rounds and will probably get DRs when they go dead. This bass is roundwounds all the way. Absolutely that bridge pickup growls.

Jerry, I will see what I can do but I'm about to head out for 3 weeks of travel for work. If I get a soundclip together I will most definitely post it here.
