Early Roscoe Value

I brought this from Keith Roscoe in 88 or 89 while passing thru Greensboro N.C. Bartolini PJ pickups, Gotoh bridge and tuners.

Only issues are 2 cracks in the fingerboard, one about 3/8" and one about 7/8".

Anyway, never seeing one on ebay anyone want to guess it's value? I don't have an original case, when I bought it it went into a flight case.

Excuse my photos, I'm a newb at cameras....

Thanks

Wow! That's a classic!

Hard to say what it's worth though.

I'd guess around $1000-$1200.

Ah. The 80s. Big hair, crappy synth based pop music and hockey stick headstocks. Ya gotta love it.

I do see the eventual LG body style there and the Roscoe lettering.

It really comes down to what someone would pay for an old Roscoe. Someone who collects basses may give more, but I would guess $700-$800 is what it would bring if you put it on ebay. I got to play a similar one at the Roscoe GTG. They do have a very fast neck. Joe would know if he would have come to the GTG.

LOL @ Clint & Joe...

This is a cool bass, but I have to tell you...my inner OCD/AR makes it painful to look at those pics. I'd love to spend an hour polishing out those scratches and adding some gloss to that finish.

Back on topic - great info above. I've got to think it'd be a very slim niche market for an instrument like this. With the right buyer I'd drink the punch of $1,300... but historical value and, of course, expert craftsmanship seem to be the two main assets against the liability of a dated design.

I have some punch for you to drink, actually more like Kool Aid. I have a nice older LG2005 with quilt top and a now $1100 valued Brazilian Rosewood fingerboard. It only needs a new truss rod and a better bridge. I will let you have it for $850.

Clint, that is a really gorgeous instrument. You illustrate the whole, "What's the market? I mean, really?" thing perfectly, though. If your bass has a value of $850, how do you define a price for the OP's bass?

Basically the market is based on what someone will pay for it. Mine needs a truss rod. It would cost me $300 to fix it, other wise I would ask $1200. I unfortunately do not have the funds to fix it
