I am running an Eden Metro and want to get an extension cab for larger/louder situations. Think it would be good to get another Eden cab, I like them, matching, etc.
Leaning hard toward a D212XLT, I am a finger style player and like a 12's meat & potato's.
Also temped by the D210XST due to size and reported tight lows it can kick out.
Any of you running a 2-10/2-12 combo?
Any comments on an XLT/XST mix?
For what its worth, I'd rather sound closer to J Hellborg than V Wooten.
As always, Thanks,
BM

I find that they tend to duke it out sonically and most of "my" tone ends up being canceled out. Strictly IMO/IME...there are others who run this mix and love the sound.
Basically, I buy into the logic that multiple cabs should be identical, which includes the XST/XLT cab design. Same speaker size and air movement just makes it easier to get your sound....maybe think of it as removing a big variable, especially in difficult rooms where EQ can be a challenge.
One word can describe the D212XLT: MASSIVE. For many years my main cabinet was a 210XLT. The 212 is amazing, but try as I might (and I have), I've never been able to fall in love with 12's.
What cabinet are you currently using? |

It is ok, but something about it is just not sitting well with me lately.
Not real focused or reactive, sounds a little choked and tired (it is 12 years old).
I really like the Metro on its own, big, full bodied, focused, and I can get a little nasty with the SS channel.

If I like the Metro on its own, it basically has a D210XLT in it........Duh........

When I ran both of my 210XLT's together, the sound was amazing...and HUGE. Honestly, on a few gigs it was actually a bit overkill, and I ended up dialing back some lows to compensate a bit. Unless you're playing a huge outdoor gig without reinforcement, I'll suggest that a D210XLT sitting below your Metro will definitely give you the horsepower you're after, while maintaining the same tone shape that you already enjoy. Good luck! |

I've heard the XST + XLT combo, and it worked, they complimented each others strengths - the strong low mids of the XLT gave punch the XST didn't quite have naturally, and the depth and definition of the XST gave fundamental and clarity the XLT didn't quite have naturally.

I have the 115-XLT I put under my Metro, but the tone I get is either too boomy without punch and definition. Then no matter how I change settings and take a little out of the boom, then it gets a bit too thin with not enough bottom end.
I am looking for a meaty colon-loosening punch with some definition. I'm not a soloist, but I do through in some lines every once in a while that would be nice to have the audience hear.
I dont' care about weight so I'd consider the 210-XLT, 210-SXT, 410-XLT or other Eden extension cabs.
Any further throughts for a guy playing small clubs and small outdoor venues?
Thanks |

It adds a little extra meaty low end to the Metro's sound (due to coupliing) without getting too boomy. And, it sounds excellent with my fretless Roscoe (diamondwood board with Bart/Bart electronics). |

I don't think that I've ever heard it put quite like that!
If you ever do stumble on that rig, I certainly hope that you set your amp up close to the bathroom! |

Kept the Eden Metro, like the way it sounds.
Got a wild hair and just bought a whole new rig, LOVE IT!
My mini rig of boom.

In what way does it differ from the Metro sound you had? |

Take nothing away from the Metro, just a different flavor.
It is kinda cool that it matches up visually with my lovely Roscoe too.

I was considering the smaller XST-210, but my current car can handle the 410 with the Metro in the trunk. The thing is though, if I want to downsize the car (5 year old Nissan Murano), I'll either have to get a 210 to continue with the Metro or get a new amp to take the 410 by itself.
For now, I'm hoping the Metro and the XLT-410 will give me that colon-loosening punch with definition I'm looking for. Note to self: Take Imodium AD to each gig. |

One can never be too careful; loud rig, thundering Roscoe B string, accidents happen.
(hope it happens to the singer and not me)
