Jerry taught Roscoe the dog to groove on Fertle Myrtle?

Either way I'm down.

Hi Fellas,

Here's the first shot across the bow. I'm not pleased with the audio quality...still working out kinks there, and my video editing skills are on-par with a pre-schooler. Otherwise...whatcha' think?

EDIT - link down while file is being replaced. Back up soon.
Ok...new link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W7OtGO1ZBac

Great demo that IMO deserves to be on the Roscoe site. Very informative.

^ Ditto!

Excellent job Jerry! You should be a commentator dude!

I could definitely see you doing "online Lessons" or equipment reviews like Ed Friedland.

Dude, you are a Smooth operator!

Thanks, Ray. The Roscoe site was actually the motivation behind this process. Steve will work some of his magic to make them look and sound even better.

That said, I think I've minimized the audio problems. Here's video #2, and I'll try to fix or replace the Blue Angel video.

Fertile Myrtle!

Oh, I thought this was a thread about that 21st Amendment Fireside Chat ale. Tried it once, absolutely horrible.

Can't wait to see what THIS fireside chat is all about.

Jerry, incredible presentation, and that Blue Angel was well worth the wait for a clip of, magnificent.....

And to top it all off, I have something new to try when next playing fretless, that bridge bias/low mid boost combo.

Thanks, fellas. You're way too kind! Here's the Red Devil:

Roscoe Guitars Century 3006 J - The Red Devil - YouTube

I'm currently re-doing the audio for the Blue Angel, so I'll have that refreshed sometime soon. If you're interested in the specifics, I (obviously) did these back-to-back-to-back. Started with Fertile Myrtle, and it took me five takes to get it down...I fumbled with both my fingers and my tongue. Two takes next on the Red Devil, and believe it or not, the Blue Angel was done in a single take.

I used a Zoom Q3 for the video. Honestly, I'm pretty disappointed in that box, and wouldn't recommend it. I bought it because of the preported audio quality...which IMO is actually lousy. 'Low' is ridiculously quiet, 'High' is even more ridiculously loud, and 'Auto' starts out way too hot, and then adjusts way too low. Pttthhhhpptt. The video quality ain't no great shakes neither. You've got to have bright-as-the-sun lighting for it to pick up anything, and the .mov format the box uses isn't Micro$oft friendly. So, all in all, my next purchase will be much more heavily researched, and will certainly include HD functionality. (In retrospect, since I recorded the audio separately, I should've used my Nikon D90...it captures video in HD, and I could've used my terrific 35mm lens. Sigh.)

As mentioned above, I also captured a separate audio recording for each video, using my trusty old M-Audio 24/96. I placed it fairly close to where I was sitting, hoping it would pick up my voice fairly well, while also capturing the sound of the GB/Berg rig. I give myself a C+ there...I've had to to tons of post-pro editing to get to what you hear above.

Finally, I landed (cough, cough) a copy of Pinnacle Studio HD for editing. I'm really digging the app...intuitive and powerful. Can't touch what Mac pros can do, but I'm okay with that. It imported the files with no drama, and allowed me to mute the base audio track while also adding and syncing the separate file.

Bada boom... At least until Steve gets his hands on things and turns them into something much nicer.

Awesome job, Jerry! You'll have to move to Blacksburg and do that full time for me once you retire from IT. Just 2-3 videos per week, that's all I ask!
