| | Well, Ahoy Paloi | | Join Date: Sep 2009 Location: Cape Cod, MA | | G Guitars is closing - bummer for New England Roscoeheads Wow, just got the email that G Guitars in New Haven, CT is closing for good this weekend. Got my first Roscoe there and the guys are (were ) great to deal with.
Anyone in CT, RI, NY or MA should run down Friday or Sat this week to grab a Roscoe or two at drastically low prices. http://www.gguitars.com/ Gard, I had no idea of their status, man I am bummed. No Roscoe dealer within 500 miles now
Looks like a road trip to VA ??? |

Looks like a road trip to VA ??? | Yeah, I'm not exactly thrilled to death about this either. I really like Nick and the crew there, good guys that really tried to make it happen, but the economy just ate them up.
I'm going to start scouting for a new dealer up that way in the spring/summer, may even take a road trip to the area to look into a few possibilities....
...but that road trip for you to VA is a good idea too!

That Box Elder Century is a beautiful bass.

The next morning, a Sunday, I took my 5 month old son in the harness and walked from the Omni to G Guitars at 6 in the morning. What a bummer, especially since it's looking like I am moving to CT this Spring.

Keep me informed before you head up this way (if you can).
Clint- that is a nice Boxelder Century; I know, I have played all of them.
For what it's worth, Nick was always fantastic about returning calls and emails. Just like a certain "Rocket Man" I know, I have a feeling Roscoe only associates with professionals!

You'll know if it goes down - I've been threatening this for a while (no NYC dealers either...), maybe this is the year...
That Boxelder Century...schawing...very VERY nice bass.
Nick was a great guy, I always enjoyed doing biz with him. Really sorry that it ended up here...
...we don't like working with "difficult" people, so yeah, pretty much all our dealers are stand-up people.

Parkway is a really great shop. Great lines, dedicated and knowledgeable staff. The owners Tom and Matt are class guys. They are the #1 pros in the NE. They do great business and are opening a new 13,000 sf store. Oh yeah ... and I teach there.

You will make it there eventually and when you do take your time. The feeling of walking into a quality music store is a great one; one that should be savored! |

My first Roscoe came from there, though it wasn't me that bought it, still have their flyer in it's hardshell.

Their store was a slice of heaven on earth in terms of setting and ambience, and the guys were/are just super.
I dream of one day having that kind of vibe in a store setting. In the meantime, I wish them all the best in their future endeavors. It's a serious bummer to see them close up shop. |

Playing an instrument in their show room was like "hanging out" in a friends cool studio apartment, or even a chill coffee shop. I was very happy to bring my daughter (14 yrs old at the time) by last June and she thought it was the bomb. She plays piano and now guitar;to see the Taylor's, Roscoe's, even a few Ritter basses- very exciting to a young musician & she felt like it was someone's place. Quite different than the huge "Home Depot" style music stores that are cold, dusty and the young guitarists playing just the intro to "Sweet Child O Mine" sound like a cacophony. That and the fact that Yale University is a stone's throw away was very inticing to her. "Daddy, I would love to someday go to Yale and play these instruments here"
Best of luck to Nick and staff. |

Unfortunately some shops by-pass a verbal or written agreement with Roscoe just because the economy gets a little tight and they decide they can no longer be a Roscoe dealer so they make deep cuts in the price of their current stock of Roscoe basses undercutting other Roscoe dealers who are adhering to the agreements. I thinks shops that operate in this manner should never be allowed to carry Roscoe basses again, even if the economy excels and exceeds everyone's expectations!!!
