Gard or other Roscexperts please identify:

Gard, my news feed on Facebook said that you were tagged in the following photo:

Another shot:

PLEASE tell me more about that dark one out front. In another photo in that album it looks like it's a deep red or maybe slightly purplish.

Also, please enlighten me on this one, too:

Nordie pickups, "El Papa" inlay.

Hi,

These are basses sold my good friend Tomas Julio in Colombia, South America. He is not only a super guy, but also the Roscoe dealer for South America and a member here on TB (BajosXclusivos and TommySlap). He has ordered some quite beautiful instruments, including my own two sixers .

I believe the dark one in front may be a tricked out Century "Standard" (has a standard neck but a flat ash body), stained in a lovely reddish hue. You may have also come across a similar fretless 6-string, also ordered by Tommy.

The LG3006 with the "ElPapa" inlay is also a special order. This one sports custom Nordstrand Fatstacks I believe (Gard? Tommy?), a lovely cocobolo top and belongs to the Colombian bass player recording and touring with Carlos Vives, "El Papa" Pastor.

Best,

Diego

Thank you, Diego! It looks like the dark Century has a diamondwood board. Can anyone confirm? And it looks like "El Papa" has an ash body under that cocobolo top, but that back and sides have been stained. Is that correct?

These are some of the hottest Roscoes I've seen!

Diego (hey!) got the description for El Papa's bass correct, so I have nothing to add for that one!

On the "mystery" Century Standard, that was the "old" version, which changed a bit when we went to what is now a Standard. Here are the specs on that one:

Century Standard 5
Solid Swamp Ash body
Black Cherry finish (dark red, darker red "burst")
Bartolini/Roscoe pickups (slanted ala LG)
Bartolini 3-band preamp
Lined Fretless Black Diamondwood fingerboard
Graphite nut
Black hardware
Gigbag

These were priced a good deal higher than the present version (the retail on this one was over $3K).

And Joe, the t-shirt thing was something Tommy did on his own, with our blessing. It took us a while, but I kinda like what we have now (both the basses and t-shirts).....

Why I think Joe was trying to make a funny.
But did Tommy's t-shirt have black hardware?

BTW...The El Papa bass is one cool looking Roscoe.
