Swamp ash, Zebrawood/Spalted Sapwood, Mahogany accent, Pau Ferro, and wedge neck (maple, cherry, wenge, and something else). It has Barts wired parallel and a Demeter preamp. Killer bass. Great setup, monster tone, and looks great.. I know the rules, so here are some pictures.

Although I'm concerne about Demeter+Bart parallel.... doesn't it sound too scoop?
Still, great instrument.

The parallel wiring really clears things up to my ears. My only gig is church, so I'm not competing with a couple of 100 watt Marshall's, but we do have a really loud drummer, and i had no problem being heard. |

The Demeter/Bart is still my favorite combo.
I really like the pau ferro finger board too. Much more brown hue than normal pau ferro. |

That's not a wedge neck btw, but a standard neck with wenge centre lam, and some purpleheart on either side.
I really like the colour in that pau ferro board, and the body isn't too bad either. I'm also curious how the parallel wired Barts and Demeter sound - like mo I'd expect that to be quite scooped, but I guess it could work |

I was doing the prep work on my bass, last night. Drilled the hole for the Demeter mid-switch, installed the preamp and I soldered my pickups for parallel. As soon as Demeter sends me my nuts and washers they forgot to pack with my preamp I will try it out. I am curious to how it will sound going through my Aguilar 359.
Has anyone put one of the pickups in parallel and the other in series? Any thoughts on what this would do to the sound?
Oops, sorry for hi-jacking the thread a little. |

FYI: Jeff is right, that isn't a wedge neck, just a wenge center with purpleheart stringers and a volute. Not sure why it ended up with the volute, but it IS an "off the menu option" ($100 retail) for any standard neck. Quote:

Oops, sorry for hi-jacking the thread a little. | Clint, let me know how you like it wired that way. I would like to try a DB359. I love my Aguilar cabs. I'm sure that's a great sounding head. |

Thanks Gard. I'm really pleased with it.
I knew you'd get me eventually.. I had to play hard to get though, right? |

| | Appointed President of the Roscoe Owners Club | | Join Date: Nov 2005 Location: Wake Forest, NC | | | My washers and nuts came in today from Demeter so I installed the preamp in my SKB3005. I wired my pickups in Parallel and started comparing it to my SKB3006 with the Demeter preamp, both have the stock Roscoe Bartolini pickups. This is what I noticed about the parallel setup
The volume was about 25% lower
The Mids were really scooped.
The Bass seemed more clean and not as heavy
The Treble is about 50% more, it was very bright
The Pickups had less noise (Noticed more so on DB359)
I played for about an hour and a half using a Fender Bassman 60 and an Aguilar DB359 through a Genz Benz 4-10.
I prefered the Series setup on my 3006, it seemed so much thicker so I switched my 3005 back to Series.
I can't wait to get down to Greensboro to try Pete's Bartolini Classics. I am thinking the Demeter coupled with the Classics could sound pretty awesome. |

It sounded better on my DB359 than it did on the Bassman 60. |

Is it the sound you are not liking? It you have the pickups wired back to series it will change the sound, make it more fuller.
