Graph-Tech Graphite v. Diamondwood nut

What would be the benefit of getting the more expensive diamondwood nut vs. the standard graphite?

I have the diamondwood on both my 6's. I like it quite a bit.

That said, here is my view on which is "best" in what situation and why:

If you have a fretless with a diamondwood fingerboard, it will give you an even tone between open and stopped notes, so I recommend it. I also prefer it with ebony as it is a bit more "woody" sounding on the open strings than the graphite.

If you're playing fretted, and don't care what it looks like - get graphite. If appearance is an issue for you, and you just dig the look of the diamondwood, then it's a small additional cost, and go for it.

+1 on Gard's comments.

The diamondwood nut is a true work of art to look at and it's as hard as nails!

^ I agree, too. To me, it really puts the finishing touch on the bass. I have them on both of my Roscoes.
