Great Roscoe Dealer - Blue Berry Hill Bass

I have been trying out every Roscoe 5 string bass I can get my hands on and I finally found my keeper. The love affair started with my first four string Roscoe LG-3000 last year that I bought here on TB used. It's an awesome bass but up for sale now because I am switching to 5 string. I tried LG-3005s and SKB-3005s I even went so far as to buying three at one time in order to be able to do direct A/B/C comparisons to pick the one I like best. Two of the basses were from Jay Lewis at Blue Berry Hill Bass in Illinois. Wow what a pleasure it was to work with Jay. I am sure I had to be driving him crazy with all of my stupid idiosyncratic questions but he was very patient with me and did his very best to accommodate me in every way. In the end I have a great bass, that I love the way it looks, plays and feels. Here are a couple pics. One of the other ones went back to Jay and the last one, which I bought (thinking it was going to be the one) from another TBer last week is up for sale in the used bass section. Kudos to Keith Roscoe for building such great basses. Kudos to Gard too for answering many of my questions at very later hours of the day and mucho grande kudos to Jay Lewis for being such a gentleman and providing outstanding customer service.

Jeff

I don't think Keith lets just anyone sell his basses, it has to be a good fit. I mean if he let just anyone, I would be selling them out of my house. My wife knows how passionate I am about Roscoe basses and quality commitment they have to customer service, I think I could almost talk her in to it. Unfortunately there is not a local dealer in the Raleigh area.

In the process of the search, I had the great pleasure of speaking with several Roscoe dealers across the country and all were extremely helpful, patient and kind in answering my questions and steering me toward the right instrument.

Gard, it turns out that I came full circle all the way back around to the red one that I originally called you about. Funny how things work out some times.

Now off to break this baby in!

Peace out

Jeff

Thumbs up

A big thumbs up for Jay! He definitely keeps some Gasing Roscoes in stock and he's a great guy to deal with!

Congrat's on the keeper Jeff! It sounds like you had a well designed plan to narrow down the selection process. There's nothing like being able to A/B/C Roscoe's in a controlled environment!
