Happy first time Roscoe owner

Hi everyone. About 2 years ago I decided to try learning bass guitar. I ordered a nice SX Jazz bass from Rondo, then a short while later added an SX P-bass, and lastly a decent OLP MM.

I didn't know how far I could go with the bass, but once I got into the learning phase I really enjoyed it. Last year I met some local bass players, one had a Roscoe. I got to play it briefly and really liked it, light weight, very well balanced, low action, great tone.

I finally had a chance to buy one recently and now it's the only bass I play. The other 3 basses are nicely sitting in a closet. I've tried playing them a few times, but they just don't compare to the Roscoe. I also sold off my previous amps and cabs and downsized.

I'm very happy with my current setup. I've played in a 3 piece band a few times now and was able to try out this new rig this weekend. It did great.

Roscoes Standard line is fantastic. Congradulations on picking up the bass. Welcome to being a Roscoehead.

It's your fault Joe....had I never tried your Roscoe I'd still be slinging the SX Jazz...

But the Roscoe is a hit, and takes less effort to play well. It lets me focus on playing and getting better.

Nick, I will take full responsibility and maintain a smile on my face the entire time... and your new amp system looks to be head and shoulders above your old set up!
Gonna have to get you and Deb over to the house for yet another bass marathon!

Yes, we'll have to arrange a free Saturday or Sunday to drop in. My new, smaller rig is so much nicer to travel with. Now we only need to get Deb to buy a Roscoe...

Nick, welcome to the family!

I hope you are OK with crazy, otherwise, you're in for a bumpy ride around here...

...I'm sure Jerry (VroomVroom) will be stopping in to give you the standard speech about string ball end alignment and your mental health. (Hint: If you take him seriously, you should question your mental health ) Watch out for his sidekick nostatic, he has some very strange ideas about the correct angles of each string's ball end that he will try to pitch at you as well. Last week, the two of them were yelling at each other and throwing handfuls of old wet newspaper at each other...I still don't quite understand what they were going on about...and I'm certainly confused as to why the wet newspaper got involved, something about balancing the angles of magnetic fields...

Best of luck with bass

The ball-end/newspaper connection has been well documented. Strings are used on basses, and basses are made out of wood. Newspapers are printed on paper, which comes from wood. Quid pro quo, res ipsa loquitur. The wet newspaper was actually part of advanced testing on nuclear flux densities. I was trying to prove that the parallel ends induces a quantum shift that is responsible for aberrations such as Justin Bieber. Can we really risk that?

Unfortunately the results were inconclusive, so we need to move to magazines. I wanted to use hard cover books but Jerry complained about a concussion he got during testing. I think he should work on his reflexes. I'm still going with the 72 degree twist. It is a moral imperative.

Oh wait, what was the question?

Oscillation Overthruster

I think we need John Warfin to explain from YoYodyne Propulsion Systems:

Is that a -72 or a +72 degree twist? Do authors have an effect if you go with hardback books, and will have any affect on the outcome? Will glossy magazine pages be good? How about sheet music? How about a stack of my old unpaid utility bills from 1985????*

Jerry's old, you can't fault his faulty reflexes.

Oh, and illigitimus non carborundum.

(*...hopefully, all this nonsense will keep nostatic occupied for the next few weeks, so we can get some work done around here, he keeps calling with new theories on nuclear flux densities..... )

+ or - depends on what side of the equator you're on.

Authors only affect the outcome if they have more than 3 vowels in their name.

Glossy magazines skew the results towards action too low due to shallowness of the approach.

Sheet music? Is that some porn series?

As for your unpaid utility bills, dude...how many grow lamps you running in the basement?!?

I believe part of that work is on my fretless. I'll keep my theories to myself lest I interrupt the workflow. But ignore the ramifications at your own peril.

Actually I just like saying, "flux."

Well, typing flux. I like saying it too. But here I type it. Flux. Flux Flux.
