Congratulations on a sweet score! |

Welcome to the Roscoehead club.
Did that one end up with the Demeter or Glock pre?
The Roscoe Demeter is very nice for sure! |

I've had several Roscoe's with the Roscoe Demeter but none (although one's on the way) with the Bart CB's. I do have a Warmoth fretless with the Bart CB's and to my ear they have a more open less compressed sound. The Roscoe Demeter has very glassy highs, smooth lows and just enough mids to cut through. The mids would be IMO the only week point to the Demeter, although the Roscoe Demeter has a bit more mids than the off-the shelf Demeter pre. Roscoe had it tuned specifically for a Roscoe and it does have the optional mid switch.
I'm sure that Clint can elaborate a bit more on the combo in the bass that you have coming. You'll love the classy highs. It really adds some snap to the slap! |

It really adds some snap to the slap! | It is kind of hard to describe openess, so I will try to put it in a linear way. If pickups had a full sound range of 1-10 the Roscoe/Barts would have a range of 2 - 7.5 because there is some compression on both the Lows and highs with a slight high-mid bump in the sound. The Classics would be 1 - 10, giving you a little more clean/clear bottom with a slight low-mid bump and highs that have more of a treble resonance.
As Joe said with the Demeter, the mids are a little weak. With the mids turned all the way up, they probably would equal the Bart preamp mids around 1 o'clock.
To me the Demeter adds some tightness to the bottom and some highs that make slap sound pretty awesome. It gives you more of a hi-fi sound. With my rig, Nord DCs, Demeter preamp in my bass plus using an Epifani Quest preamp and Stewart Power amp through Epifani 4-10 is very clean and articulate sounding almost like on a nice studio recording. I will also use my Eden WTX206 with the Epi 4-10 and get the same thing. If I ever really need to cut through, I normally have to tweak the mid on the amp. This all said, I love clean sounding bass, I am not much into the heavy mid tones. I would hang myself if I had to use an Aggie preamp.
Joe is about to get the Classics with the Audere. This combo has no problem cutting through at all. Tweak the high-mid and bam, it is not as harsh as the aggie, but it will cut. I really like the low-mid on the Audere, it does a nice job of thickening up the bottom. Most of the time when I had this combo, I would turn the hi-mids all the way off unless I absolutely needed to cut through. The low end isn't quite as tight as the Demeter. I honestly think if you could take the Lows and Highs of the Demeter coupled with the lo-mid/hi-mid control of the Audere, you would have the perfect preamp. |

I love that cobalt blue tint with the maple finger board!
Give us a mini review when it arrives and you get play it and examine it up close and in person!
Roscoe has always built some amazing basses but the stuff that they're putting out now is simply off the charts (both cosmetically and workmanship wise). | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
