Hey guys, act quick! Roscoe fretless 5 BIN $1225

http://cgi.ebay.com/Keith-Roscoe-Cus...3286.m20.l1116

Someone's going to owe me a beer.

No, a six pack.

No, a bottle of single malt scotch.

I have no connection with the auction whatsoever. Go!

Is it weird that it has a burl maple headstock cap and a zebrawood top on the body? Clearly an older one, but wow, that's cheap.

That was the first thing I noticed practically as well.

That's an early 90's LG 2005 (note the non-carved top), and back at that time, Keith used the same headstock veneer on every neck, no matter what the top wood...hey, uh...well, it was the early 90's, and he was just beginning to recover from building THESE ( ):

EMG's... in a Roscoe?

Anyway, it does look like a sweet deal. The seller has some other very nice gear going pretty cheap...

Again, early 90's, yeah, EMG's! Also, a Wilkinson bridge.

Things change...in this case, for the better!

Thumbs up

That's a piece of Roscoe history for sure!

I love seeing the way the Roscoe basses developed to what they are today!

Clint needs to spend his Christmas & New Year holidays developing the "History" section of the Roscoe Web site!

Get on it Clint!

Short of kidnapping Keith and holding him hostage until he spills the beans on the history, it may be a while before that part is updated. Maybe everyone should send emails to Keith until he puts something together.

Kidnapping Keith...... Now that's an idea!

.....And I could also use the one-on-one time with him to convince him into moving the Roscoe shop to Macon Georgia!

One trip to the "Big House" and H & H Diner for a meal cooked by Mama Louise's and he'd be sold!

Talking You're mean, smperry

I just came in from blowing snow for 2 hours in -15 degree windchill and was about to settle in for a relaxing lunch...maybe a nap...? And now you've ruined it. Having recently acquired a "sister" bass, SKB2006 #3143, I'm fighting hard not to appoint myself to the position of Vintage Roscoe Museum curator as a rationalization for buying this thing. Thanks for wrecking my afternoon.

Gard, could this bass be retrofitted with one of the current Hipshot custom bridges, or would that result in too many holes drilled in too small an area of the body?

Can't promise anything, but we're pretty good at "hiding" stuff...

I think I'll pass. I'd prefer a fretboard with "cheater lines" for times when I'm feeling less-than-brilliant - or rather *playing* less than brilliant. I think I'll set up a demo of a new Roscoe fretless that's in the area and go from there. Close call, though!

If I kid napped him I would put him to work in my sweat shop, that way I would have great tennis shoes and excellent basses!

Macon Georgia? I remember the movies Macon County Line and Deliverance. Keith wouldn't stand a chance... if you combined those two movies you would have dirty cops doing dirty deeds!
