Hipshot on the B?

Hi all, having our owm forum is pretty slick!

Any 'heads out there with a Hipshot on their Low Bs?

-does it fit well?
-does the lever hit the C string tuner?
-how's the pitch retention?
-can I get one for less than a hundie?

We've got a couple songs now that really like the occasional A, and the hippie would be nice, if it worked as well as I hope.

thanks folks!

c-boy

Hipshot is tha name of a Company. I have a HipShot on my B, E, A, D, G and my bridge.

-The Ultralite D-Tuner is pretty compact so it should fit.
-It shouldn't
-Don't know
-Most likely.

I think Bryan Tyler has one on the B of one of his Elricks, but I could be mistaken. Try sending him a PM, he might be able to help.

I indeed have a Hipshot Xtender on the low B of my five-string. New they're under a hundred, and you can find them used fairly often for anywhere from $50-$70. Works fine. I use a .120 B though, so I haven't tried it with anything thicker. Pitch retention is fine- just follow the exact directions on the Hipshot site (which many people don't do) to properly tune it.

Fits fine and doesn't hit my C string tuner...because I don't have one C-5KO has them on the low B of his six-strings and they don't hit the C-string tuners. It depends on how your bass' headstock is designed, but usually you can fit a Hipshot on your lowest string with no issues. Roscoe headstocks have a pretty good distance between the B and C string tuners, so I imagine it'd be no issue at all. It's putting one on one of the middle strings or on multiple strings where problems arise.

Follow up:

Are the Hipshot Ultralight tuners a direct replacement for the GB-7s as far as installation is concerned?

Yes, they are, but you have to make sure you get the correct post size. If you order directly from Hipshot, just tell them you're putting it on a Roscoe, and they'll get it right!
