Looks to be 100% totally stable.
But I may take it back.
It's a SWEET bass. I love it, but I'm not "in love" with it.
Dunno. I have a few days left on the 30 day deal.
Or I could pass the deal on to one of you guys if I do decide to take it back.
I'll keep the Roscoe-heads posted when/if I post it.
Anyone ever have that happen?
Get it. Love it. But not fall in love with it?
I think my SKB ruined it for me. I pick that thing up and it's bliss!

If you don't mind me pickin' yer brain, what differs between the two? What do (or why do you) prefer your SKB over the LG?
Not tryin' to sound negative but rather educate myself on some of the differences on different Roscoes.
Ya mind elaboratin'?
God Bless, Ray

While I'm definitely a lover of the SKB form-factor, it's ultimately about sound IMO. For example, my local store currently has two GORGEOUS SKB sixers. You guys know me...if one of them sounded better (to me) than mine, I'd find a way... |

But I' pretty sure the woods of the SKB- ash body/maple top, purple heart fingerboard of the SKB vs the mahognybody/maple top and rosewood fingerboard has a LOT to do with it.
Then you factor in all kinds of other things as well.
Don't get me wrong, if this was my only Roscoe and I played 4 string more, then I would be keeping it. It really does kill.
But these days I'm playing my 6 more (never thought I would honestly be saying that!) and the tone coming from that thing is sweet.
The LG plays and sounds wonderful, but it's about the right bass at the right time with the right sound.
So, before I take this thing back, anyone interested in grabbing it?

Personally Sound/Tone is the biggest factor. Playability as in comfortable neck is next, and then the overall aesthetic/form factor is last. Knowing that the differing Roscoe models are built to the same high standards of luthier excellence boils it down fairly quickly to the aesthetic of the bass. Some like the looks of the LG body style, some don't. |

The top on this thing....pictures don't even come close.
I knew what I was in for to a point when I bought it.
I expected it to sound quite different from my SKB, and I was cool with that.
I just really like the SKB!!!

I never thought (never crossed my mind) that it was mere form factor of SKB>LG. I hope I didn't imply that. I think that everyone who's had the pleasure of playing Roscoe, might "prefer" one over the other, but if a bass had "it", I really don't think the form would turn me away.
Thanks for the reply Mike
God Bless, Ray

I just really like the SKB!!! | I know what you mean. I really like my SKB's as well. It's funny, but I played my old jazz basses for so many years, and people said I should get a five string. I held off getting a five string for a couple years until one day I went into my favorite high end bass store and noodled around on a six string. I couldn't believe how comfortable it felt, and how effortless it was to play. Of course it was a Roscoe SKB3006. I purchased my first Roscoe SKB3006 a couple of weeks later. Played it for hours everyday to get comfortable with the B & C strings for a couple weeks, played a gig with it, and put the jazz basses in their cases where they still reside.
Moral of the story is.. 4 strings are like the house you grew up in as a kid. Great memory's and fun to visit occasionally. 5 strings just feel like someone forgot to count when building it to me, But 6 strings just say "Glad you finally grew up a bit there tadpole, now let me show you what the others haven't figured out yet." | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
