I just completed the first motorcycle ride of my adult life!
See here;
Before you ask, No I didn't "drive" . I wouldn't have made 10 feet before I "turtled" it. I rode shotgun behind my Pop.
Hey, I'm Rockin' the Roscoe cap so at least that belongs in this thread. (Had to change to helmet for the ride, but the cap is back in place now)
Had a blast, and thought to share.
God Bless, Ray

I was on a similar bike once, also as a passenger(only time ever on a bike), and it was a blast!
I tell you one thing, that sexy cola red, would make a fantastic Roscoe.....

I'm not Jonesin' to ride everyday, but it'll be fun to do every now and then. Quote:

You look totally "Born to be Wild" on that 2 wheeled beast!
You need one of those 3-wheeled cycles like the kid had in "Silver Bullet"! |

The Can Am Spyder is one of the "front two wheel" types and they are neat.
I'd neccessarily need a "twist and go" setup. Quote:

I was INCREDIBLY nervous just riding, I dunno if I could be that nervous and think quick enough to "drive" though. I have no doubt with proper mods I could "drive" as long as everybody else stayed home and there were no other vehicles on the roads.
God Bless, Ray

The last bike I owned was a custom '83 FXRS when I lived in Southeast Alaska back in the early 90's. They sure are alot of fun. Maybe you could check into one of those Can Ams, they look like they're a gas to drive. |

Looking biker with your leather and all. Now all you need is some Roscoe colors on the vest..
Glad you had a good time on the bike. That is after all what they're meant for.
And they do become somewhat addictive after about 2 minutes.... Just sayin.... |

After hearing her stories, I'd never get on a bike. | I've seen some accidents . My ride was from my house around to my Uncles house and back (3-4 miles taking the "long" way). During the ride we saw three vehicles, I live in a very small town.
But to "respond" to your sentiment, during one winter my Pop drove a wrecker for the company that handled all the accidents for the Dallas Police. After knowing what he saw, I was "uneasy" getting in a car. IMO that's just as dangerous. Quote:

No not really.
I meant that I like to see that because I am an official Honda motorcycle dealer.
(And my own butt is conventional in size.)
A GL1500, although outdated now, is a nice ride.
I drove one scraping the footpegs on the asphalt. |

Nice to know your a Honda dealer, now I know who to ask about parts
God Bless, Ray

Last month I took a 4000km+ road trip down to TN/NC. Used a visit to Nashville as an excuse to make the pilgrimage to the Dragon, the Cherohala Skyway, Blue Ridge Parkway, and the highways that constitute the best driving roads in the eastern US.
Yes, I drove thousands of miles... only to drive some more. Our asphalt playground for a few days. Great Smoky Mountains National Park Cooling my overheated brakes. Note the blue rotors.
Video footage of some of the highlight drives: http://vimeo.com/10768890
I retired from track days and HPDEs years ago when I sold my VW GTI—mostly because tracking a 500hp Audi was relatively unpractical. But this trip to Nashville was in a far more modest car, and holy crap, did it ever reawaken my speed demon. Ridge runs, sheer drops, endless twisties, sudden decreasing radius turns, switchbacks—I constantly thought I was playing a video game.
As far as I'm concerned, I've seen heaven. And it's somewhere along the TN/NC border.
Oh, and Roscoe content? The video used for the in-car footage above is the same camera I attached to the headstock of my LG in this video. |

We got as far east as Cherokee, NC, but didn't continue past that. I was thinking of heading to check out Duke and UNC as well.
This summer I'll probably be driving across the continent, coast-to-coast, and I won't miss this next opportunity to see the birthplace of my #5550... |
