It was an EMOTIONAL moment for all of us that had either lived through it, or had watched the city and people we love go through an ordeal beyond words.
That night, a Monday, was electric, even in my living room in Greensboro, NC, hundreds of miles away.
Not more than a couple of minutes into the game, something magical happened: Steve Gleason blocks Falcons punt
Fast forward 5 years, Gleason is retired, but remembered as a hero for that night. No one hears much about him, he's gone into his private life and is happy...then: Steve gets bad news...REALLY bad news.
Here's the team's reaction to finding out about their former teammate: Local sportscaster Jim Henderson's tribute (click on video!)
The team has given him a Super Bowl ring, and he deserves it. Without that ONE play, I don't believe the Saints would have had their 2009-2010 season.
Here's a link to the Facebook page of Steve's foundation: Team Gleason | Facebook
Please, buy a t-shirt, or do something to chip in, help Steve kick ALS's @$$, so he can do it for everyone on his team, as he always has.
Thanks for your time, Roscoeheads.

Double sucks since it seems he's such a good, positive person.

I can only imagine how he must feel, especially given the fact that he was a professional athlete. To go from top physical conditioning to the mercy of ALS would be just terrible.
Awesome gesture from the Saint's though! I'm sure that meant a great deal to him. |

I personally believe certain individuals are put in positions that no one else understands JUST to wake others from their own carnality. We as human beings sit so often and complain about stuff that to us is huge, but from a different perspective is relatively minute. We go so negative so quickly and even in our "positive" moments we show our weakness and selfishness.
Case and point; I "dream" of self sufficiency to a point of not only taking care of the essential things like food, rent etc, but even to bigger things like MORE ROSCOES
Walking into my favorite Roscoe dealer and fanning out loot that I EARNED for a TBD item(s).
In selfishness I dream of these things.
This brother dreams of waking tomorrow and being able to hug the folks he loves. Something I have taken for granted since setting butt on this place.
My dreams aren't terribly wrong or misguided HOWEVER from a different perspective, they're fairly minute.
Time comes I draw my last breath, rather those dreams come to fruition, WILL NOT MATTER.
I'm a dreamer. And I'd rather dream Big, and get part, than dream small and get all. But with that said, a little reality helps keep us centered in what REALLY should matter.
Thanks for sharing this Gardfather
God Bless, Ray

We have some differences (the Cowboys SUCK, among a few others... ), but you need to know how much I, and I venture to say ALL, of us here at Roscoe, and the overall Roscoehead community, admire and respect you. That you can see someone else's situation, and say what you just did speaks volumes about your character.
I'm proud to know you, and of all those that play our bass, I'm most proud to know YOU play one and love it.
Thanks, brother.

You my friend, reveal the fulness of your heart and character so very well within a few sentences, while others would have to write volumes and still come up short. You are a big man in our books Ray. You elevate all of us in this community, and I am both humbled, and proud to call you my friend..
Dream big brother, and let nothing hamper achieving it... |

I echo what's already been stated about you Ray! You are indeed a special Roscoe brother.
