I should have never visited this forum....

...as the GAS is nearly unbearable. I've heard the Roscoe name before, but had never taken a good look at the products.

As of last week, I had been considering trying my hand at building my own bass in the next year so that I could get exactly the wood combination, shape, and electronics I want. While I was discussing the carving up of my own bass with my instructor, he mentioned (jokingly) that we should get apprenticeships in Greensboro with Roscoe.

Roscoe?? Well, after taking a look at this forum and the Roscoe site...it's as if my dream bass is already a reality.

Just stunning basses. They go beyond what a luthier would consider beautiful...I believe artisans of all sorts would appreciate what I see. And this is just from photos, but the care and craftsmanship just shows through.

I'm hoping to get a chance to play one in the very near future, and if they play as half as nice as they look..I'll be determined to get myself a SKB3005. It'll just take some time to decide on what to order as the wood combinations are more varied than I would have ever come up with on my own.

Anyways, just had to blather a bit.

Yea man....wait until you get your hands on one. I was blown away.. I owned one for a bit but sold it to pay off debts and what not. Once we're in the clear I'll surely be in the Roscoe world once again.

Oh..they don't sound half bad either...

Yeah, I just can't imagine a Swamp Ash body, Aguilar Pre and some fat Nords sounding bad.

Watch out, the Ash, Nord and Aguilar combo might bite the hand that feeds it.

Definitely will have plenty of mid range punch to push though any mix and beat down the guitarist.

If you are near the Raleigh, NC area, I can get you a few Roscoe basses to try out.

I walked into class earlier an told my instructor (Mike) what a terrible thing he pulled on me last week.

"What?" He asked..."the Victor Bailey?"

'No, the Roscoes!'

He laughed. After the conversation that I had with him last week...an old friend has lent Mike one in the hope that he'll buy it. So I may get a chance to play one earlier than expected.

I'm hoping, but not expecting, to come across one at a guitar show I'm attending tomorrow...and if that doesn't work out, I may just have to take CrashClint's offer next time I travel up that way.

But no biting of the hands!
