Idea: Carbon Fiber Topped Roscoe Standard Plus

Gard.

6222's Painted headstock looked like Carbon, and it gave me the idea of a Carbon Fiber topped Standard.

I dunno if It'd be feasable or not (Carbon is somewhat a booger to work with. I've used it a lot in R/C Aircraft) but boy would that sucker look sweet

Lets see;

Nice light colored natural body
Carbon Top
Diamondwood Fretless Board

To quote Jerry SUH-LURP

Might that even be remotely possible?

I'm just thinkin' out loud.

God Bless, Ray

Yea, But with the same procedure that they do the other Standard Plus line (natural arm bout etc).

If I were in charge of design, I'd go as far as "recessing" the Carbon Top into the Ash Body to give it a "bound" look around the edge. At least from the playing position.

Light colored ash "ring" surrounding the carbon.... YUMMY!

I'd imagine that'd be difficult to do though, if Roscoe'd be willing to work with Carbon at all.

Makes for an awesome design in my head though.

This what you've got running through that brilliant, and absolutely correct mind of yours?

I couldn't help it, the idea is so good, I had to get chopping at it!

And of course, CF can be dyed!

They're the only colours I've seen it dyed, but if there's more you want, let me know.

I'd personally be all over the black, or green one.

I'm not sure if dyed is correct, it may be that they paint over it in transparent colours, but one way or another, I have seen them in red, blue or green.

Anyway, I'm off to buy some extra strong Tums...

Gah! Gotta go! Be back in a minute.

In all seriousness I hope these garner enough interest to see at least one come to fruition.

If Kieth is willing, maybe Gard could shop the idea to their dealers coughRocketcough.

Somebody besides us has to be interested. (I hope)

That's the reason I thought a Carbon Top would fit the Standard Plus model best.

Firstly the exotic wood tops on the 300X series and Signature series are carved. I don't believe Carbon would "mold" into the carved shape without specialized equipment. Standards have relatively flat tops and they'd be much more accepting of Carbon.

Secondly the tops on the 300X series and Signature series are much thicker than the Standard Plus counterparts. Carbon sheeting being expensive, Roscoe would find a thickness acceptable for the Standard Plus model much easier than the others.

AND with the idea beginning on the Standard Plus line, Roscoe could "test the market" of Carbon with the minimum outlay of materials and capital, while learning the material's potentiality for other things at the shop.

I tries to think things through

God Bless, Ray
