I looked at the pics before reading the text (something I've been struggling with since I was, oh...13 or so ) and my first thought at seeing the back...is this a lefty? Beautiful looking instrument there - I can't wait to hear your thoughts. |

Wood warps, twists, splits, and just generally does not behave well.
Doing it with spalted maple would be VERY BAD ju-ju.

Doing it with spalted maple would be VERY BAD ju-ju. | Hmmmmm. I would think that using a 1/4" or even 3/8" thick plate of the body wood would hold up quite well. Hell you could even engrave the full company logo on it for that x-tra bit of Roscoe hi-end class. Of course, you could do the same with plastic covers as well but, wood just says it so much better don' you think??
Yeah, using a spalted maple or spalted anything for a cover would be a very, very bad idea... |

I'd be the first to order that option if it were a option! I've had basses with that option before and the only issue I've had is it fitting a little tight when the wood would get moisture in it and swell. But well worth that little issue.
Thanks guys I appreciate all the comments. This baby should be in my hands in a few weeks. We are shooting for the 1st week in December. See ya soon Joe..... |

MTD and Jerzy Drozd primarily. It would be a nice option for that special touch of class on my 2 Roscoe's. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
